How hard was the 2-1 nap transition? Meaning, did you have a lot of nap refusals? If your LO refused their morning nap, how long did you keep them up until trying again? If they refused the afternoon nap, was it just early bedtime that day )and how much earlier)?
My LO is 10 months but he's been resisting his afternoon naps a lot lately. I know he's young to transition so I'm just wondering how long the nap battles will be!! He has only flat out refused a nap once but I'm worried it'll become more frequent.

My LO was 10.5 months when we transitioned to 1 nap. She kept refusing to go down in the afternoon or her first nap was long and there wasn't enough time to get another one in! She's always been good with long wake times though so one day I just decided to shoot with one nap around midday and that was that! She would get a little tired in the mornings for a while so I made sure we got out somewhere and just hoped she wouldn't fall asleep in the car on the way home!

I think my LO went through something like what you are describing around 11 or 12 months while she was going through a developmental phase, but she went right back to a solid 2 naps after a few weeks of it. Mine never refused the AM nap but would occasionally refuse the PM nap, and we would just move bedtime up by a half hour or so. Just FYI, my LO is almost 18 months now and we are only just now transitioning from 2 to 1, and that is b/c we are being forced to by daycare. She still takes 2 on weekends. So your LO might end up not dropping the second one for awhile. It'd probably wait and see and not force it, if you have the patience.

My LO seemed very much like he was ready to go to one nap at 10.5 months (kept taking ages to go down in the morning, and then refusing afternoon nap sometimes if he had a good one in the am). We did a week's trial of one nap to see if it suited him - it seemed fine at first but very quickly he became overtired and started waking up at 4am! So we went back to 2 naps... delayed the morning one by half an hour and limited it to 30 minutes (I would wake him up). His pm nap was always the big one.
During this time if he refused a morning nap completely I would not try again - I would give him an early lunch and then put him straight down for his afternoon nap. If he had a sleep in the am and then refused the afternoon nap then I would do an early bedtime, but never any more than 30 mins early as I was scared of early wake ups.
This bought us another few months, but by 13mo it was clear he was ready for one nap. It was a tricky few weeks where some days he would need 2 naps and others 1 (often depending on morning wake time), but once he adjusted it was fine!

You can try capping her morning nap ..its bit earlt for one nap but every baby is different

I think DS was around that age (maybe 11 months) when he transitioned to 1 nap. We just went with it when he refused his morning nap to see how he handled just 1 nap. It worked out fine so we just continued giving him only 1 nap.

@BabyTsMom: My daughter sounds like your LO. Morning naps have never been a problem. Afternoon naps have almost never NOT been a problem! But she really still needed the afternoon one for a long time. I kept trying to just drop it, but after a day or two of no afternoon nap she would be cranky and miserable. We went through a solid 3 or 4 months of me attempting to get her to afternoon nap, but not stressing about it if it didn't happen.
I know a lot of people drop the morning nap, but for us it worked better to shift the morning nap later by half an hour at a time, and then drop the afternoon nap. Now she gets up at 7 and goes down at 11 for an hour or two.

We're still in the middle of the transition (3 months so far).
Around 11 months he started fighting his second nap and we went down to 1 nap on most days. Then he started waking up around 5ish since he was so overtired.
With the 5am wakeups we went back to two naps (went down easy since the day was long). But then he started fighting bedtime because he'd gotten so much sleep so we experimented going back to one nap.
Then he started walking and while he was sleeping later he clearly needed two naps. Like @bubbles we capped his morning nap at 1 hour and then he would take a 2 hour afternoon nap. This has been working from about 12 months to 14 months.
Currently at 14 months he's starting to resist his afternoon nap. I'd say 3 days a week he only takes 1 nap. We try to get him to 11:30 if he's taking one nap (his normal morning nap is at 9). I think this transition is probably a truer transition than the first one and we will be moving to one nap completely in the next month or so.
