I'm not in this situation, but my SIL is! She has the older in his own room and the youngest sharing their room at the moment. I think they intend to keep that arrangement until they move to a bigger place.

My parents also were in this situation for a while and they kept the baby in their room for a little bit, but then moved both kids into a room together.

I think age gap might play a role in this. For my SIL, the age difference is quite large (6 years), so the oldest has had his own room for a LONG time. It would probably be really hard on him if he had to start sharing with his baby sister. For my parents, my brother and I were only 16 months apart, so I think it was a lot easier for them to put us together.

@Foodnerd81: I would think 3 would be young enough to be okay sharing a room! You might want to keep the baby in your room until they are sleeping a little better (not eating every 2 hours), but after that, I would think you'd be able to bunk 'em together!

We have a 2/2 house and so far it's fine! Dd has a crib in our room although we co sleep. DS is in crib in his room and there is also a twin bed in there. In about a year, I'll move him into the twin and dd in the crib.

We aren't in this situation, but live in an area where it's super common. People typically either share the room with their child or their kids share from the start. People just adjust.

We're pulling off three kids in a two bedroom right now! (just for the summer, but still!)

We have our 3 month old and 2 year old sleeping in the same room. Works just fine

Baby slept in our room until about 8 months. It took a week or two for them to stop waking each other up all night but they seem to really like it. When the baby would wake he would usually come to our room for the rest of the night. Honestly the hardest part is putting them to bed- we need to stagger otherwise they keep each other up. (They are 3 and 16 months).

My sister did this, and her son and daughter shared for almost a year, it was a struggle having a toddler and baby together. The youngest was in their room for about 6 months.

We'll be in a 2/2 most likely if we have another. We still have LO in our master so... ? I might have everyone in our room- otherwise LO1 will be in her room and LO2 will be in ours. I can see us having both in our room though- I like having a room open for play. We'll see!

When we have a second, when baby moves out of our room. Then our LOs will share. It's very common where we love as 3 bedrooms are very expensive.

we are six in a two bedroom.
3.5 month in bassinet, 20 month in toddler bed with us in our king bed. 4 year old in a full and our aunt in a twin in the second bedroom. the second bedroom has a (full/twin bunk). Eventually, we'll set up the crib when the middle kid turns 2 and move him into the second room with his older brother in the full or move the 4 year old to the twin bunk and have the 2 year old with our aunt in the full. It's tight but it works for everyone and no one complains and everyone sleeps alright.

We don't have this situation but recently all stayed in one bedroom at my mom's house for over a week and it worked out great! DH was only there on the weekends but bedtime was easier than when he is not home because I was able to get them down at the same time. Our older DS slept sooo much better than at home even though he was just in the pnp. The younger one is only 10 weeks and mostly slept like crap but never woke up his brother. At home he normally wakes at least once a night nut he sttn every night except one. Makes me wonder if he just likes having someone in the room.
