LO had one around 2.5 or 3, and we had an echo (and seriously he was the best doc we've ever had - so good with kids). She did fine and it was deemed to be the type of murmur that a lot of kids have that generally disappear in childhood. Good luck with your appointments!

Our daughter was born with a slight murmur. She went for echo at around 3 mo. Cardiologist was not concerned in the slightest, esp given the fact that both my father and I also have murmurs.

To be honest, whenever she goes for check ups, the Dr's dont even notice it (she is now 1.5yrs). She is a happy healthy and thriving little girl!

@Banana330: ours wasn't noticed till 3 either, but the dr explained that it might only be noticeable when they're sick and their heart might be beating faster.

At my daughters 2.5 year appointment the dr detected a slight one. Didn't refer us to a specialist though, just said they'd keep an eye on it at subsequent visits. I wish I'd asked more questions and maybe pushed for sooner follow up.

They detected one in my son around 6-8 months I believe. We went for an echo and it turned out to be an innocent murmur. The echo was super quick and easy. They still hear it when we go to the dr at 21 months but it shouldn't cause any issues.

The pediatrician heard a murmur at 9m in D. A week later we were at the cardiologist for an Echo and he did have an ASD (Atrial Septal Defect). Normally these close on their own, so he was monitored, getting an Echo every 6 months till he was 2. At that appointment, the holes hadn't closed, so he was scheduled for a closure. He had it closed by catheterization at CHOP and went home the next day. He had an Echo in January (about a year after surgery) and everything looks great!

All this to try to calm your concerns that even if they do find something, it can be a pretty "simple" fix. It's still surgery, so it's a little scary, of course, but it was quick and D recovered amazingly well!!
