She pushed another kid in front of her in line and said go. She also did it to an adult stranger while in line at the aquarium. Now she just pushes herself in front of whoever is doing something she wants to do and takes over. What should I do? Anyone experience this?

Hmm... We haven't had that exact situation, but she sounds like a girl who knows what she wants and when she wants it
We've been working with Lala on Harvey Karp's patience exercise (check out Happiest Toddler on the Block) since she was about 18 months old.
There is an exercise where you have your toddler wait 1 minute for something. It teaches them delayed gratification and patience.
I wonder if that's something that might help you guys?

I've been searching the Karp videos on You Tube for an excerpt on "One Minute" but I haven't found it yet. Maybe grab the DVD from your local library?

Actually, I think Dr. Karp does it as 1 second, not one minute... but we've stretched it out to a minute because it works so well for us.

Thanks so much. I'll look into it and so nice to hear what's working for you guys right now. It's such a fun age but learning to discipline is the biggest challenge.
Often I am resorting to grab E to make her wait. But I think the physical contact is making her more physical. I get so embarrassed she is being pushy (literally and figuratively) that I just hurry in to stop the action. I really have to be patient myself and keep practicing. -

Hmmm, can you also teach her "hands off" or "don't touch"? That might help in a variety of situations, but especially if she's touching random strangers!
We also are working on patience, although we don't use the Karp technique. It sounds horrible, but I use the same method with DD that I do with the dogs. Basically, I put up my hand and tell her "wait," delay giving her whatever it is she wants, and then priase her for her "patience." Her whining was getting really out of control, but it's slowly getting better, with this technique.

@Honeybee: Thanks! That's good-- I will use the Wait! and Patience words to help her. This past week, I noticed she didn't rush past anyone. Instead, since she 'knew' she couldn't go first, she became uninterested in playing the activity as a a group and did her own thing. Hmmm.
