What week did you get your scheduled C-section? I heard week 39 is common, is there any reason for that?

Week 39 was my scheduled C-section. They schedule it that way because they want the baby to 'cook' for as long as possible, but not have you go into labour.
Their stupid theory didn't work for me. I was scheduled on June 7th, I went into labour the late afternoon/early evening of June 5th. If I have a third, that baby is being scheduled for Week 38 because labour sucked!

It depends on your doctor, where I live they schedule it either during week 38 or week 39. I have noticed that week 38 babies tend to need a bit more resuscitation.

Week 39 for me. It's just a week early to avoid labor.

I have a scheduled c-section at exactly 39 weeks to avoid labor. But I'm fully expecting to go into labor earlier because my son came out at 36 weeks. I'm hoping I don't but I wouldn't be surprised if I did. =\

Same as everyone else; 39 weeks. They didn't want me going into labor. That said, I wish I had asked if I could wait longer. He was only 6 lbs 9 oz and I just felt we had taken him a little too early. I've felt guilty about it since.
He's fine, but I would have felt much better if he'd had a little more meat on his bones. It also took him 5 days to pass his meconium, which was miserable. Not sure if that has anything to do with him coming early, but I just feel bad. And people kept telling me how their baby flipped ( he was breech) right before their due date, so of course I worry I should have let nature take over for a few more days.

@Oceanis723: so logical, I feel silly for not figuring that one out! Thanks!
