Over the past two days my 4 month old has had periods of inconsolable screaming. The screaming basically lasts until she finally falls asleep. Nothing seems to comfort, not even nursing. Any thoughts on what could be happening? Is this just wonder week stuff? Thanks!

I have no idea, could be overtiredness, beginning teething, getting a cold, any number of things... but I will say that my dd did go through a few days like that around 4-5 months old that I thought was because she was overstimulated. We had to drive with her in the car to get her down and when she woke up she was fine. Hope your lo is back to normal soon!

Thanks. It's so hard because I felt like we'd turned a corner (she was a very fussy baby) and now we're back to this!

@starberry: I remember freaking out thinking we were going backwards but luckily it didn't last. Hope it doesn't for you...chances are it won't. And as the months go on things become less intense because the causes for these fits becomes much more easily understood! Hang in there!

Ours was inconsolable a lot and extremely fussy/colicky for her first 6 months, until we figured out her acid reflux was a result of a posterior tongue tie and upper lip tie. Once those were fixed, we literally had a different baby. Might be worth looking into reflux, tongue tie, lip tie, food intolerances, etc. I hope your baby feels much better and happier very soon!

Oh no!!! It's horrible when that happens!!
My LO is also 4 months old and she has been doing this occasionally. It's has been accompanied by sneezing or fist chewing every time so i think it's what she does when she is feeling ill or has teething pain, poor thing.

I agree with @erinpye: I would consider the possibility of reflux or food intolerance.

Thanks everyone! She does have reflux, but it had significantly improved with my dietary changes and Zantac. I am going to call the ped though if it continues.

Ours did that with Acid Reflux. Once we got her on meds for that those fits stopped.
