Trying to figure out what to expect for a 4 month old in terms of schedule. How long should awake time usually be at this age? How many naps? Bedtime?
Thanks!

@Mrs. Turtle: Sorry no advice because I barely remember, but you are amazing! Are you going to have 3 kids with you?

My LO will be 4 mo next week. We just got a good schedule going (immediately before I go back to work... gah!). Anyways.
7:30ish wake (she typically wakes herself but I wake her by 745 if she isn't already awake)
7:45 bottle
9:30-11 nap 1
11:30 bottle
1-2 nap 2
3:15 bottle
4-5 nap 3
7 bottle
7:30 bed
She eats once overnight, but wakes me up a bunch more times just for fun.

@crazydoglady: No, our 4 year old moved on to another more suitable placement. He needs to be the youngest or only child in a home with more adults to supervise. We found what I think will be a great match for him, so fingers crossed it works out! And we just have the 4 month old for the weekend! I just didn't get any info about him so I'm trying to guess the best I can. He just put himself to sleep on the floor gym while I was putting O down, so I have no idea if this is a late nap or an early bed time!

The EASY routine was what we followed at that age (and for a long time after!) and we always found this to be a really helpful cheat sheet.

@Mrs. Turtle: I can’t remember that age, but I wanted to chime in that I’m glad you found a better placement for the 4 year old and I hope he is happier. That must have been so difficult. Good luck with the baby for the weekend!

@catgirl: Thanks! I think tomorrow I'll shoot for the 6w-4m one. I don't think he's going to make it as long as he needs for the next step.
@Foodnerd81: Thanks! We are extremely relieved. Some things came up at the very end that made our decision very clear. I feel awful that he has to move again so soon, but it's definitely the only option at this point.

@Mrs. Turtle: I'm glad to hear the 4 year old was put in a better situation for all. It sounds like it wasn't working for anyone. Have fun with the baby this weekend!

@crazydoglady: Thanks. It wasn't working at all. I wish we'd had more info when we said yes to taking him (because we never would've said yes), but I guess, live and learn. We will stick with babies from now on, or at least until O is older.

My DD just turned 5 months old yesterday. She takes 3 naps a day. She isn’t hungry at all when she wakes up so I can’t do EASY with her. She naps about two hours after waking up. I hope it’s going well!

At 4 months my son was still on 3-4 naps a day, if there was a 4th it was a very short catnap, like 30-40 mins. Bedtime from 6 weeks on was 7pm or earlier depending on how the day went.
Wake time was still only about 1.5 hours at that age, but I watched like a hawk for sleepy signals and had no problem putting him down at the hour mark if he needed it.
Here was our schedule.
6:30am wakeup (But we wouldn’t get him till 7am)
7am bottle
8am - 10am nap
11am bottle
11:30am - 1:30pm nap
3pm bottle
3pm - 5pm nap
6pm begin bedtime routine (bath)
6:30pm lights out and bottle straight to bed after. This was the only bottle that I didn’t separate from sleep but it never seemed to matter (like later when we dropped bottles at a year he was fine going to sleep without it).

@Mrs. Pickle: Thanks!
@SweetiePie: Thanks! I think this is closer to where he's at. Unfortunately he's getting a bit of a cold and has had a little fever, so I'm sure everything is a bit off. Yesterday he probably took 5+ short naps. Still a happy guy though. Loving the baby snuggles and kind of wishing I didn't have to give him back tomorrow!!
