oh lord, i was just having this conversation with my husband yesterday. Except for me, I remember not liking my son's sense of humor/defiance from 2.5-3.5. He is a month shy of 4 right now and I'd say things are getting much better but he still does that whole running-away-whenevr-i-ask-him-to-do-anything (i.e, pull up pants after bathroom, washing hands, brushing teeth, putting socks or shoes on, and the list goes on). I just keep telling myself that he is "only" 4. That's still young and, eventually, they will grow out of it, especially/hopefully when they start kindergarten and being older/bigger/more capable is something they want to be because of the older kids.

Yup. My almost 5 year old can really drive me crazy. They know how to be defiant to a whole other level. It makes the 2's and 3's seem really easy (I also have a 2 year old).

Yessss! My 5 year old is the same way! I swear terrible 2's and 3's was a cake walk compared to this. His little attitude has got to go!!! I too try and remind myself "he's only 5" but geez. I feel ya. Some days I wonder where he came from. I miss my sweet cuddle baby.

About to hit 4 and you aren't alone, but glad to hear I'm not either. I was seriously wondering if it is only my kid!

My son just doesn't follow directions. I have to threaten to remove toys in order to get him to do anything and I seriously hate it. We had a talk about it last night at bedtime and he agrees to shape up, but then we just fall back into our former routines. I think part of the problem is actually me, I need to be consistent regardless of how pressed for time I am.
