@Mrs. Bee: I know this is not what this thread is supposed to be about (because we're getting rid of stuff) but what kind of condition are your rugs in? And how big? We are in the market for a new living room rug

Ok, yesterday I managed two "bags"- some stuff that needed to be returned that DH took because he was driving by there, and a clean out of my patio. Now that the junk is gone I still need to actually clean it though...I also posted a bunch of stuff to sell so hopefully those are some future bags, although I'm not counting them till they're gone.
Today I did our outdoor laundry area and literally had a bag full of random stuff that went straight to the trash. Happy, happy about that one! What day are we on now? 5?

Yesterday I worked on organizing my daughter's closet. Today it's time to tackle the craft drawers!

@Baby Boy Mom: I am on Day 7, but I know many joined a little later.

@Mrs. M: ok, then maybe I'll just call it day 3 for me, since I don't want to be so behind when I've just started. I'm sure there will be many opportunities to fall behind in the near future!

Today, we are working on getting rid of an old box of wedding favors. First, I am using some to make LO a mobile, then the rest will go in the trash. I'm about halfway done, so that's my progress for the day!

today 3/13 thursday is day 6... or whatever day you're on!

    i gathered a bag of charlie's clothes to give to a friend - that's bag #5.

i cleaned out the cart in our bathroom that held various toys, toiletries, and got rid of most of it -- that's bag 6#!

    how are you all doing?

Today was day 4 for me. I cleaned out our candy boxes (I collect in bins everything LO brings home from birthday parties, school etc, minus one or two pieces he gets on the spot). Then during preschool pickup I gave away a grocery bag full to a village lady.

Late to this, but DH and I just chatted and we want to join in on the idea of decluttering and throwing/giving bags of stuff away as spring cleaning.

@Mrs. Bee: How have you been shipping the kids clothes? I was going to use the flat rate boxes at the post office but am not sure if that is the best way? Thanks!

@Veggiemama: I had those thick plastic shipping bags leftover that I bought from uline a long time ago. I just take it to the post office and they determine the postage. If it is heavier than a certain weight, they made me do priority. So if it's heavier those flat rate boxes are a good deal. If it's lighter a little shipping bag will cost less.

@Mrs. Bee: Thanks that is good to know. How do you charge people for shipping if you don't know the rate until you get to the post office?

@Veggiemama: I just estimated but I waaaay underestimated! I was going to buy a postal scale but never got round to it.

Ok! That is our issue too, my husband has been selling things on ebay but so far has underestimated the shipping. That's why I was thinking of using the flat rate boxes.

I think I will do this challenge too. I have way too much clutter.

I am way too excited to say that we have kept up with this so far!

@Veggiemama: I think flat rate padded envelopes are the bomb. They're 5.60 or something to ship, and you can stuff/tape a lot in there. I have a kitchen scale I use to figure out shipping -- if you print from Ebay instead of taking it to the PO it's cheaper, too.

How is everyone doing? I need some more motivation.

I got my bathroom sink done with was two bags
Yesterday I got two bags ready for consignment sale plus a bag of trash stuff with stains.

I need to tackle my room and my purses! I hate going through purses because I love them all for different specific purposes.

This is such a great idea. I want to do this, though life is a little crazy right now as DH and I are both likely changing jobs. I will try to do this but be gentle with myself if it doesn't work.

Ok just did our medicine basket and got ride of six pairs of shoes! Coming along and it feels great!

    @T.H.O.U.: Great job!

I've still been doing this daily and am already enjoying less clutter and more organization. In the last few days I've worked on the cupboard above our microwave, LO's drawers, the garage, arts and crafts drawers, and the laundry room. For big projects I'm still setting a timer and doing a minimum of 45 minutes each day. Otherwise I would never stick with it!

i totally failed the last week and didn't get rid of anything. busy, tired, sick...

need to remotivate this week! i've gotten rid of so much but it's amazing how there is always more!

    how is everyone doing?

I was bad, too. Though I did do a few bags: finished up the bathroom decluttering, went through LO's dresser and got rid of old blankets (why was I keeping all of the hospital blankets? ok, I may keep just one) and clothing that is too small.

Still have a lot to tackle.

I am way past the 40 bags now (yay!) because we are finishing up our packing this week. We're about 50% packed, I think... most difficult part left, being the kitchen. I packed away all the good china but I'm so afraid of packing up appliances and glassware.
