We're attending a BBQ about 3 hours away, and I'm going to bring a dessert... any ideas of something that will travel well? It also has to last in the car because we're leaving really early, having lunch halfway there and letting the kids nap in the car the rest of the way.
The crowd is mostly families, all the kids are 5 and under, and a few single grown ups. No idea how many people.. at least 15, maybe up to 25.

I would see if your host has freezer space, and then I'd look up a grocery store that's on the way to their house and I'd get a bunch of ice cream and sorbets, cones, squeeze toppings, etc.
Or lemon bars, they travel well, and you don't have to remove them from the pan you baked them in.

@mrs. wagon: I have a to-die-for pudding/creamcheese/graham cracker recipe, but it needs to be refridgerated..... do you have an insulated pyrex container holder thing?
(can you tell I don't know my way around the kitchen?)

@mrs. wagon: cookies! a few years ago I made cut out sugar cookies in the shapes of stars and sprinkled them with red white and blue sugar. Or, I've seen them made as rectangles and you press a lollipop stick into the back and decorate them like flags.
ETA: ok well these are actually rice krispies treats, but that's a good idea too. The second pic is more what I saw, but as flags, instead of flowers.

Grape salad is really good! Looks gross but always gets rave reviews, and you could pop it in the freezer an hour or 2 before you leave. You can even just mix the stuff up and use it as fruit dip with a big platter of fruit. http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/creamy-grape-salad

Cookies, brownies, squares - I've got a recipe for some strawberry-lemonade bars that are yummy! Or lime bars, or Turtles brownies! Anything like that lasts really well in the car.

Thank you all for the ideas!!! I don't want to risk melting/ deforming/ getting jostled around in the car, so I think I'm going to go with an assortment of cookies and bars!

Blueberry crisp. I just made and ate some. 
Yum. It is in a casserole dish and because of the oatmeal on top, it retains it's shape so I'd think it would travel well.
