If you own I think a blueberry bush or dwarf fruit tree! I was going to do that last year but our fence isn't in yet.
I like the idea of planting something that comes back year after year. Maybe your wedding flowers?

Appliance - vitamix? We got one for a wedding gift and 5 years later we still use it all the time! It's also great for making baby food if you're into that

We were on a tight budget as well. I ended up getting DH a new bathing suit and flip flops in an hibiscus pattern since it was something I knew he needed.

I didn't follow the traditional gift last year for our 4th so this year I gave a peach tree to satisfy both 4th and 5th. Plus it grows with your marriage.. I also love the chocolate covered strawberries or maybe fruit and chocolate fondue or mini version of your wedding cake if it had fruit or flowers?

I got D a couple bottles of wine from a vineyard near where we honeymooned. I really liked the idea of a fruit bush or tree, but we were renting and not planning on staying there much longer.

Would an experience be suitable? Not sure where you live, but fruit picking season has begun. Perhaps you could arrange to go berry/peach picking, pack a picnic, and make a day of it. Gift him a single share of Apple stock?

For our 4th I got DH a hydrangea bush, he likes to garden. DH got me a lavender bush, I like to make tea with the flowers.
It's fun to see the plants come back every year and remember our anniversary.
