I watched Happiest Baby on the Block and was hoping that it would work for baby Z but she is not really taking to it. I feel like we have her in a good swaddle so maybe we dont have quite the right side angle...? Anyone else not have much success at first with this? Did you change something so that it eventually worked?

have you tried holding her on her stomach instead of her side? olive loves that position.

Sometimes with the 5 s's you need to be a little more vigorous than you might think.. Mr. Jacks was definitely too gentle at first

I think it's something you have to practice and play around with before you can get really good at it. It took me a while to find the right position too, and to figure which ones worked for so because they didn't all work, or they would work some times and not others.

Oh, that's good to know. I guess I'll just keep at it and hope that I find the right angle and position. I think I should rewatch the video too. Thanks!

Of the 5 S's, the only ones that worked for us was swaddling, shushing (VERY loudly!), and swinging (very vigorously - not in the swing, but in our arms). Keep at it and I'm sure atl east ONE of them (or many in combination) will work for you!
