@mediagirl: I went to NZ in high school and it was amazing. I'm so glad I did it while I was young and could save the money. I don't know if I could ever afford that kind of trip again with a family! Definitely the experience of a life time.

-I'd love to take him to legoland. It was my DREAM as a kid and I never got to go.
- I'd love to go on a mission trip with him when he's in high school, if he wants to. My dad was with me on my first missions trip when I was 14, and it was really special to have him be a part of it. He also went on my older brother and older sister's first mission trips when they were 13 and 14.

That's all I can think of at the moment!

@mediagirl: that is amazing! I don't think as a kid you even realize how much it means to your parent. But that would mean so much to me as a mother to do that with my kid! Ever since starting nursing school, I've wanted to do a medical mission trip - of course that won't be feasible anytime in the near future, but by the time he's in high school I'd love something like that, and to share that with him.

Oh! Actually, when I was 5, we did a family trip to Mexico. And I definitely remember it vividly. I remember visiting kids who lived "in the dump", as we called it. I remember handing them clothes and money and how excited they were, and it was such a foreign concept to me. It really taught me a lot even at just 5 years of age.

First five that popped into my head:

- taking a "mental health" day just to hang out together
- walking to the grocery store in a blizzard to buy ingredients to make cookies
- seeing New York City for the first time
- jumping waves in the Atlantic Ocean
- working together with my dad to complete the Sunday crossword

- visit Glacier National Park (I hiked up to Avalanche Lake while I was 7 months pregnant, so in a way, we've already been there together)

- camping

- a ton of books I'd like to read to her, like The Hobbit, A Little Princess, Watership Down, Little Women, Anne of Green Gables...

- roleplaying games (we play D&D)

- homeschooling (I can't wait to watch her have lightbulb moments and really dive into a topic she's interested in)

Take him to my favorite cities/cities he's interested in. DH and I have fantasized about going with him to Berlin, Chiang Mai, etc.

1) Disney world for sure! I can't wait to see her face light up at the princesses
2) Would love to take a family vacation to Europe
3) @Charm54: PEI would be amazing. I hope my daughter loves Anne as much I did and we can go together
4) would love to go on a girls only trip with her
5) Yellowstone! We went there a few years back and loved it. Would love to take a family trip there

1. Skiing in Austria. DH lived and skied there growing up. We try to go every year.
2. swimming in a (warm) ocean. I'm a wimp when it comes to cold dark water and I imagine she will be as well. But maybe she will surprise us.
3. Go to London. I went with my mom during college. It's when our relationship changed from "omg mom, I don't want to talk to you" to "We call each other every day"
4. Riding the carousel in San Diego and hoping she gets the gold ring.
5. Instead of driving her to school, drive her to the airport and go to Disney.
