Did you get your baby a flu shot? We are debating if we should get our 6 month old the flu shot or not. What were your reasons for or against it?

Haven't decided yet but probably will. My husband is in his pediatric residency, so he is around sicks kids all day. I imagine he will bring stuff home. Plus, I would hate for her to pick something up, give it to him, and have him get a newbie sick.

Yes. My baby was a September baby, so it was already March then, but we were about to get on a plane in the following few days..The votes may not be accurate just because babbies turning 6m right, say, before flu season are probably more likely to get one than those born during it (til the next year at least.)

We do for a reasonably unique reason. My husband has cystic fibrosis and the flu could kill him. So we all get the vaccine to help as much as possible. It is one I would skip if it was just me or we didn't have that reason.

Lo turned 6 mo in December and got the flu shot. I believe the potential benefits outweigh the risks.

Yes. He was in daycare and my husband works in the hospital and we lived in Boston. Also I feel like anything I can do to prevent illness I should. We now live in Nm and he's 16 months and not in daycare full time and we will all be getting them again this year.

Yes we got him a flu shot. It was the middle of fall and he goes to daycare. We will all be getting the flu shot again this year. I swear, daycare is a germfest during the winter months

No, he didn't. He isn't in day care, turned 6 months at the end of flu season, and DH and I both got one (as did my ILs). We wouldn't have had a problem vaccinating him had we felt the risk of him contracting the flu was high enough, but given the circumstances we didn't feel it was necessarily.

Yes. She turned 6 months at the end of October and we do a lot of traveling for the holidays.

LO turned 6 months at the end of February, so we passed on the flu shot last season; however, we just got him a flu shot at his one year well-visit last week.

I was actually leaning towards no until our ped told is that if she does get the flu (she was around the same age last winter) it can be life threatening at that young age. And she had already gotten sick a few times via daycare so we didn't want to chance it.

I didn't even know they could get it at six months! I hope my pediatrician offers it at Xander's six month well visit this week!

No, but I would have. She turned 6 months in February and her ped didn't think it necessary so late in flu season. She did get the shot at 1 year (two of them actually!) and we just got the nasal mist last year (she's 2 now).
DH and I both get the shot as well. Neither of us did before LO, but now we do to protect all of us.
