We did a 9 hour drive with my then 15 month old and it went great. We stopped about every 2 hours either to eat or run around. N wasn't into screen time ( still isn't huge into it) so he slept a lot or babbled to us. Stopping every 2 hours really help. He is a get up and go kid.

It's about 7-8 hrs to my family and we make the drive every few months.
Lots of snacks, water, screen time, paper with pencil/crayons for drawing, books, favorite toys, magna doodle. Try to coordinate around bedtime or nap time.
I'm looking to add some new things into the mix for my 2year old. Going to buy a reusable sticker pad for the car.

We have a 7-8 hour drive to my in-laws and do it every couple of months. We have found that it isn't worth it to drive during the day, because no one is happy for very long! So we usually leave around 4ish, drive for 2 hours or so, then stop to eat dinner at a rest stop and change into pajamas. When we get back in the car it's almost bedtime so she sleeps the rest of the way. For the few hours she is awake we do lots of books and just recently movies have started helping a lot.

My Ped said to stop every two hours and make sure you take them out of their carseat and let them stretch, since they are strapped so tight and don't get the free movement others in the car have.
