I'm BFing with my other hand so I have to be short with this!
LO has a raspy cough but his breathing is good (also a bit raspy-no shortness of breath though).
I can feel his cough in his chest & back if that makes sense.
He hasn't had his shots yet (his appointment is in 5 days).
Any ideas? When to worry? Should I not worry?
He's acting fine other than that.

I think because he's not vaccinated yet, it's worth getting him seen.

Croup is going around....I would get him checked just in case (but I am usually pretty cautious). Does he sound like a barking seal?

Is it a loose cough? Like phlegmy? That's the best kind of cough to have. I might take him to get seen just b/c he is younger.

I just had my FIL check him & he said it may be the beginnings of bronchitis and to keep him inside...no visitors..and to get him into the ped first thing in on Monday unless theres any lethargy, loss of appetite and/or fever. I'm still not 100% convinced. My FIL is a family doctor with 26yrs experience though:/

I HATE google...of course first thing to pop up is "pertussis". My legs buckled when I read that & now I'm freaking out & so is DH. -
@TurtleDoves: Can you take LO into an urgent care clinic on Saturday just to ease your mind?

@TurtleDoves: there is no bronchitis in babies, only bronchiolitis. Id be skeptical of family medical advice. When in doubt get the baby seen.

@Mrs. Jacks: what is bronchiolitis? I read about it but is it something that may go away with care or only antibiotics? @littlek: will do. I agree with that motto
@winniebee: our ped lives in our subdivision so I think I'll have DH call him tomorrow morning! -
@TurtleDoves: Bronchiolitis is caused by a virus, often RSV and is cared for using supportive care. No antibiotics necessary. If your little one is showing any signs of respiratory distress, they should be evaluated for it.

I fully believe in mother's intuition. If you're worried, better to take him in and ease your mind.

Mine had a tiny cough at 8 weeks and it turned into a cold so I took him to dr at 9 weeks. I would take him.

@TurtleDoves: @Beebug: Hope everything is ok! I go with my gut - always good to get them checked when you are in doubt. My 7 month old had a cough for 2 weeks that wouldn't go away - no other symptoms but I got him checked out anyways. He's fine, but I felt better knowing that.

@winniebee: thanks for asking:) we took him to our ped's house who said he has the beginnings of a cold and that obviously because of his age, it could either get bad really quickly or it can be avoided if we keep him in without visitors and just keep an eye out for diarrhea, a fever or loss of appetite. He has none of these things!
so I'm glad I went...I feel waaayyyy better.
