We just got back from LO's 9 month exam--more like 10 month exam since she's 10 months old today! Eek!
Anyway, they pricked her big TOE to get some blood for a blood count test.
Did they do a blood test at your 9 month exam? Where did they draw blood from?

If I recall correctly, LO got her blood drawn at her 1 year exam. They drew it from her antecubital (where your arm bends), just like they commonly do for grownups. I'm not squeamish (I used to draw blood all the time!), but for that instance I was the one shaking 
Getting it from the big toe sounds less evil. Hope it went well!

Aww, how was she after the prick? We haven't had that yet, she's only gotten shots on her chubby legs.

Yes, I remember that. We've had a number of toe pricks since she was slightly jaundiced at birth so we had to get her blood tested then. Poor things ...

@NYCaliMama: I can't believe they do that to babies.. my friend's baby had blood drawn from that area at her 9 month appt!
@artbee: She didn't even flinch! I guess the nerves on the toes aren't fully developed yet?
@Andrea: Ugh. LO was jaundiced too.. lots and lots of heel pricks when she was a newborn

ugh, i hate getting blood drawn.
and so proud of your girl! she's a big girl. i'm 34 and i still flinch each time i get my blood drawn. actually, i'm clenching my fists, clutching the arm of the chair, closing my eyes real tight, trying not to feel the needle and OUCH! it hurts! lol.

We just got back from LO's 6-month appt! 
She freaked out for 2 seconds and then stopped. I think LO has an on/off button somewhere.
LO exactly doubled her birth weight so all is perfect!

Last Friday was our LO's 9th checkup. Doc said needed to do some blood work, but said go upstairs to do it. Then he said, don't be alarmed if nurse doesn't get it the first time (draw blood). Then I asked more questions and the form said 9 - 18m's for the tests to be done.
I then said, don't want LO to go thru that so early. Hubs said -- well, you helped your LO dodged that bullet...
