What is important to me is the ease of install on the seats with a seat belt...my son JUST reached 40 pounds and for our cars and seats, that means we can not use LATCH any longer. It mean switching to a seat belt install.

So, when I was looking at seats, it as important to me that I could get a proper install with a belt. Just another thing to think about.

I gotta say, I would just go with the Foonf. We love it for the same reasons you listed.

We asked my parents to buy one for their car as well and DS is only in their car for very short trips a few times a week.

@PrincessBaby: Britax Marathon CT? Also has a steel frame, has a higher RF height limit (Boulevard and Advocate go 2" higher...can RF the Marathon 9" more than the Foonf, but it has a 10 lb less weight limit (40 lb vs 50 lb Foonf)), is super easy to get an amazing install which might be a plus for the nanny, and is at least a $100 cheaper than the Foonf, but not any less safe. We have it and love it! We have always been a Britax family and I, like you with the Foonf, am super confident in it's safety.

Just because the car seat costs more and is "made of steel" doesn't meant she cannot get into an accident and be injured in the Foonf compared to a $100 seat. I know you know that though and it's more of a mental block

What makes a car seat safe is proper install and being Strapped in properly every time, along with being rear facing for as long as possible. I would get in touch with the car seat lady or csftl or a local tech to put your mind at ease. Many convertibles are steel framed and don't have the price tag of the Clek.

One of the differences between the foonf and the fllo is that the foonf sits up much higher in the car due to those angle things at the bottom when rear facing. If your older daughter is still rear facing and enjoys seeing out of the vehicle, this may not be as easy in the fllo (or most other car seats). The Fllo is lighter as a result of not having those and therefore can be used with latch when rear facing for a longer amount of time than the foonf. Is the nanny going to be taking the seats in and out a lot? If so, you might want to consider the Britax boulevard click tight because it does have very high rear facing limits and the easy install would be very helpful.

@blackbird: This is pretty much exactly what I was going to say! I'd look for something else with a steel frame that is easier to install. I really love my Nextfit - for us that was our top price point, but less than a Foonf and a million times easier to install properly. And since installation is really a key safety feature, that's essential for me in seats others will be using when I'm not there to check the install.

If there's any chance the nanny won't keep the seat permanently installed, I'd get a Britax ClickTight hands-down. The installation is as close to foolproof as it gets. Depending on the model, the price point isn't much lower than the Foonf, though.

@PrincessBaby: If she is FF why not a harness to HBB? We have a Britax Frontier CT as well and it is an amazing seat. You won't be using any of the RF features of the Foonf so your loosing like half the seats capabilities. With a harness to HBB you are getting all the benefits of a FF seat by keeping her in harness mode as long as possible (the Frontier has some of the tallest limits) and also have the benefit of being able to use it as a HBB down the road. Just something else to consider.

@PrincessBaby: Don't completely discredit the "booster" option. The harnessed booster is really a FF only car seat with the option to remove the harness later and use the seat belt with it. It just can't be RF like the convertibles so many of us use. I think a lot of people hear booster and they think of the little backless/strapless booster seats, but there is more than just that option.

eta: I see you just got a few other opinions to echo what I was trying to convey.

@PrincessBaby: We are a foonf house too because we love the ease of use, and have never had issues with install. Also love that my RF kiddo can see out the window. We got a different seat for granma's car because I don't personally believe that the foonf is any safer per say than other seats. They all pass vigorous testing before being sold. I do have to agree that for a FF kiddo, I would look for a different seat and pass the foonfs down to your rear facer. You won't be using the foonf to the best of it's capabilities in FF only mode.

My LO is just over 2 now, and by the time baby needs the seat he'll be around 3 years old so we will just be buying a FF/HBB combo for him instead of a second set of foonfs for baby.

Just something to consider!

I would buy something that has a harness to booster option for DD1 (like the Frontier, the Diono Rainier or Radian RXT, etc.) and then put DD2 in the Clek Foonf.

I was confused by the "harness to booster option" as well, but really, it's just a forward facing car seat with a full harness like any other car seat. The plus side is that the harness can be taken out and they can use it with just the seat belt when they are old enough. They make so much more sense because your child can use them for YEARS. That way you won't have to buy another car seat when they outgrow the Foonf--they can literally grow with their car seat.

@PrincessBaby: Yup what @MamaG: said. The main difference between the Pioneer and Frontier is the height and weight limits. The other main difference is the Pioneer is not CT, which I personally think the CT would be super easy for the nanny.

We have the Frontier CT and my son LOVES it! He is 4 and just went on a trip with my parents for the weekend and requested I put the Frontier in their car since it is more comfortable, so he didn't have to use convertible they have. Switching between the two cars was a breeze.
