@swurlygurl: popping in to add that when I looked for CM, I never actually checked my cervix. I wiped both before and after I would use the bathroom, shower, and exercise, and whatever I had showed up on the TP. I would get the EW kind, about 5-6 days before I ovulated, and it would last for about 3-4 days. My biggest tell-tale sign was that mine was slippery-as in, when I wiped, it felt almost like the liquid lube we would use to DTD.

ETA: it also helps the sperm get to the egg, and it lets them live up there for longer than if it's dry. Most people have a little bit of it, even if they don't realize.

@dc yoga bee: @LovelyPlum: Great descriptions - thanks! So, you want to be BDing while you have the EWCM - right?

@LovelyPlum: mine hasn't been slippery since I was in college. And I'm only 26!

@dc yoga bee: interesting! I don't have the slippery kind every month, but I was taught that stretchy over 1", clear, and/or slippery can all be fertile CM. So I guess everyone's different!

    @swurlygurl: no prob And yes!

Um so I *may* have gotten a super squinter on a cheapie (99cent store U-check strip, whatever that is) this morning at 11DPO. But it wasn't quite FMU since I woke up at 3:30am to pee and then tested when I got up at 6:30am this morning. Ugh! I may test again tomorrow morning with a FRER or wait til this weekend. Haven't told DH yet since we had a chemical earlier this year and don't want to "bother" him with the hope until I have a better handle on it myself! Agh!

@NorCalWayfarer: Oh my goodness!! Fingers crossed for you!! The wait is sooo painful!

@NorCalWayfarer: Awe I'm sure you're not "bothering" him!! I see a faint line! Don't you hate getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom?? My doctor was like, "sooo stop drinking hot tea so late!" Lastly, I love that it's called U-check. It makes me think, "you do the work!" But anyways, I would take a test tomorrow morning with an FRER? FX crossed for you!!!

@NorCalWayfarer: I think that looks very promising, fingers crossed and sticky dust!!
I have heard the argument that SMU is actually better than FMU anyway. not sure how valid, but the point was that HCG is increasing all the time, so mixing in what you were producing 8-12 hours ago actually dilutes your results some and a recent 3 hour hold is better. I vote FRER tomorrow!

I hear you about the chemical too . . . after my first I started waiting until it seemed more certain one way or the other to share with DH, just easier for me to handle. but I'm sure he's not bothered! hoping you don't need to worry!!

  16. dc yoga bee

    grapefruit / 4770 posts

@bhbee: Dumb question. What does SMU stand for?

  17. bhbee

    cantaloupe / 6086 posts

@dc yoga bee: not a dumb question, just dumb acronyms!

that one is second morning urine . . . as opposed to first.

@NorCalWayfarer: that is definitely not a squinter, girl! That is a legit line!!!!!!!

@dc yoga bee: Were you on BC at all during that time? That can affect CM too.

@NorCalWayfarer: Ummm, there is nothing super squinter about that! That is definitely a line!!! My last cycle was a chemical so I know what you're going through right now...

  20. dc yoga bee

    grapefruit / 4770 posts

@LindsayInNY: Nope, I was only on BC for a short stint at the very beginning of college, but it made me depressed so I stopped. It was the nuvaring. I'm hoping glasses and glasses of green tea will start to produce some results. But, so far nothing and today is CD 6.

  21. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@dc yoga bee: CD6 would be pretty early for EWCM though. Usually it goes through a cycle. It might be creamy before going EW, for example. It takes some time to recognize the different types though.

@dc yoga bee: Thanks! I get up at least once a night to pee -- I have the tiniest bladder known to man. I purposely don't drink water during the day bc I don't want to have to keep getting up from my desk -- so healthy I know

@swurlygurl: @mrs. bird: @cmbknyc: @Mrs. Jump Rope: @Sprite: @bhbee: @Littlebit: @LindsayInNY: Thanks for your input ladies! I'm just really hoping it's sticky! I'll test again with a FRER tomorrow and/or Saturday morning! Eek!

  23. dc yoga bee

    grapefruit / 4770 posts

@NorCalWayfarer: See I switched. I've started drinking my hot tea in the morning, and just going to the bathroom all throughout the day. I *try* to cut myself off from the tap lol at 8pm. Then I only have to get up once. If I drink more than that I may have to get up 2-3x. Tiny bladders unite!

    Estimated O Date: 11/16
    POAS/AF date: 11/28 (Thanksgiving)
    Cycle: 3rd
Trying new this cycle: No clomid this cycle since my husband will be OOT 11/15-25, but we're still going to try and maybe the shettles method will work for us...
What are you looking forward to this month (not TTC related): getting healthy! I want to eat right and exercise more this month.

And I have no idea how you're not telling your DH...I would go crazy if I didn't!

I follow random bloggers via Feedly. Went to read this afternoon since I'm procrastinating work... Two more pregnancy announcements Between that and Facebook, it gets tough some days...

  31. NorCalWayfarer

    nectarine / 2134 posts

@LovelyPlum: Thanks! I have an announcement planned for him and I REALLY want to make sure this one is sticky before telling him because the announcement is super special to me -- it's a Dutch children's book called Miffy that is about a mommy and daddy bunny who have an empty house and they finally get their baby bunny they've always wanted. TEAR! The author is from the town where we studied abroad together in college. I just want this one to be sticky!! I know you totally understand!!! I'm just not counting it as "real" yet.

@NorCalWayfarer: Ooo that looks good to me! Can't wait for you to test again!

@swurlygurl: This is definitely TMI but I usually only see EWCM on my TP after a bowel movement... I don't know, maybe it's just been pushed out?

I usually check right at the opening but I never go all in and check my cervix so I think that sometimes I might have some but I'm just not seeing it? Also, it's time to BD if you have watery/lube-y/wet type discharge as well. It's not quite as good as EWCM but it still does the trick I hear!

@LindsayInNY: Big hugs! I am still early in the process but it surprises me what things bother me. My cousin had a baby last week and I was nothing but excited for her but we went out for dinner with two pregnant friends and their husbands and I felt so left out and behind the times. Do you mind sharing which bloggers?

@NorCalWayfarer: That looks pretty distinct to me! Fingers crossed!

@sandy @gingerk @princessandthebee @mrsmcd @snowdrop thank you so much, y'all! i am trying to stay positive - and threads like this one help!

@LindsayInNY: @Cole: This girl I know from high school, more of an acquaintance than anything, announced her pregnancy on FB last Saturday and it hit me so hard! We kind of planned our weddings around the same time but she got married more recently and it looks like they must have gotten pregnant immediately after the wedding. Not sure why it made me so upset!

I know this is from like 2 pages ago, but I'm a teacher and can't keep up with these threads during the day.

@princessandthebee: mine was usually around day 4 post o. I think there can be a secondary surge of hormones that causes the fall then the surge. As long as you go back up and stay up I would say things look good. Also even though you did o early, you still have a few bd times in there that should be fine.

  39. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Cole: They're both random "lifestyle"-type bloggers, no one super mainstream. I think the frustration set in after a couple months of TTC. We're nearing the one year mark soon and that really gets me... I'm happy for them, I am, but a part of me is frustrated and jealous and I don't even know... This sounds stupid but I feel like when it comes our time, it'll just be old news. Like "oh, another pregnant person" and not be special or exciting to people =/ I'm probably just being dramatic.

  40. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@princessandthebee: Mine are people who got married after us or who are having #2 already. To make myself feel "better," I remind myself that they're older (for those married after us). Doesn't always help though.
