@dc yoga bee: Oh definitely, even before we were actively TTC. Just last night I told DH that I was going to tell the movers next week I can't do anything because I'm pregnant. I will be CD12 moving day lol. Yes, I'm crazy. Well, there is the beginnings of a baby in there (egg) right? RIGHT???

@dc yoga bee: hahahahaha.. not until I was pregnant. But I definitely thought about how everything affected me post BFP.

So I sort of caved and tested yesterday morning, at about 12DPO, and BFN. No AF yet but I have a feeling this isn't my month. Anyone ever get a positive later than 12dpo? If AF doesn't show up over the weekend, I might test again on Monday.

@littlek: you stay bottomless for 3 days at home and then do your normal routine but keep bottomless as much as possible. I've heard daycare does an amazing job...my friend said hers designated a person to basically stalk her son and take him to the potty every 20-30 minutes...and he got it super quick
grapefruit / 4649 posts
@littlek: I am a nanny and just potty trained the 2.5 year old. We did 2-3 months of potty books, offering the potty at opportune times and always just after waking up or before bath. Then we just picked a quiet few days and brought out the gummi bears and we were all set after 3 days. One week out and she has only had a few accidents and most of those were just drips. Pick a quiet weekend and just go for it. But if it sucks and everyone is miserable back off for a few weeks.
I am so excited for the upcoming flurry of poas around here I hope the month finishes with a bang! I get to start opks tomorrow so I am excited about that. Has anyone else bought the Target cheapies? They aren't individually wrapped and they say to pitch then after a month. I have some that are like three months old and I have digitals. Would you try using the Target ones? Go all digitals or buy new cheapies?

@Cole: I'm going to vote digital. I feel like you play a guessing game with lines.

@ottilie: I think its totally possible to get a BFP later than 12dpo. Some people have late implantation.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Cole: I got a positive at 10dpo and then a negative at 11 with a digital, so I totally don't trust them. I had lines the whole time.

@littlek: Oh you aregood. I don't have any HPTs at home right now.
I went to Big Lots with my friend last night and would have bought some but they didn't have them.... This was funny because we don't normally shop at Big Lots but there is a random one in my town. My friend is horrified at the thought of buying any feminine items - ever - for fear of seeing someone. So I went with her to Big Lots, she was like covering her tampons with cotton balls and sorts of other stuff she didn't need. When we were checking out, we both made eye contact with this totally random old councilman who now runs a ranch outside of town. He was in full cowboy gear and totally saw her tampons. (We both know this guy.) She was so mortified and I was nearly peeing my pants becuase it was so funny.... I absolutey do not have her permissin to re-tell this story but no HIPPA laws apply... Laugh if you want to. I'm laughing ....
In sum, Big Lots does not carry HPTs or OPKs.

@dc yoga bee: I totally think about that too! I feel a bit nuts but sanity doesn't seem to sit well with ttc anyway. I am impressed with how calm you are about poas, i an keeping my fingers crossed for you!
@MrsMcD: That is so funny, I about I have been buying my supplies in the next town over, our drug store is always teeming with people I know which just gets awkward.
bananas / 9229 posts
@MrsMcD: I definitely LOLed at that! BUT! Did you have the councilman's permission???
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@MrsMcD: hahaha!!! Love all of this story. That's how I act when buying HPT, but I think that's reasonable!
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@LindsayInNY: Bahahahahahah.... No, I did not get his permission. Darn.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@runnerd: Do you cover your tampons with cotton balls? For some reason, I am not too nervous to by feminine items at the store. Once I did have HPTs in my cart - only item in there - and I saw my senior prom date at Target. I was trying to hold his eye contact and all I could think was "don't look in my basket, don't look in my basket."

@littlek: no I haven't tested yet , my o date was later than I thought and I just started a new job this week so I've been so pre occupied trying to learn new things !! On that note, it's in a dentists office where there is nitrous which I found out is no good if your pregnant so if I am ... What do I do ? Tell them I just started working here and hey I'm pregnant ?! Ahhh stress lol and also I won't have insurance for the next 2 months so I'm not sure what to think about that !
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@MrsMcD: I was buying OPKs and had LO with me. LO grabbed OPK and hugged them to his chest and then waved them at everyone we passed in the grocery store. Proud momma moment. LOL
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@MrsMcD: I have no shame with tampons, for HPTs on the other hand, I'll get a whole empty cart and hide them hiding under a magazine, sweating bullets trying to make it to self checkout without seeing anyone i know
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@littlek: I just laughed outloud and snorted my redbull out my nose!
Speaking of dentists... do any of you girls have any idea about getting dental x-rays during the TWW? I have an appointment in a two hours and I might need annual x-rays. I don't want to say "but hey dentist, I'm in my TWW!!" Ugh... I would rather buy a million feminent items at the grocery store than TALK to someone other than an obg/yn about TTC.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@MrsMcD: I personally wouldn't worry about dental x-rays. Abdominal, yes, but not dental. Still, if you have any concerns, there's no harm in putting it off until your next visit unless you have really bad enamel or reason to think you have any cavities.

@Cole: Hey! I was a nanny for 6 years, just moved away from my family this summer- one of the hardest moments of my life! Anyway, everyone jokes that I'll be a good mom because of all the experience, I hope they are right! I met my youngest nanny baby when she was 11 months old so I have zero newborn experience! Do you feel extra prepared because you're a nanny?
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@Cole: I think I'm calm because I totally *know* I'm out, but it's still fun paying attention to what's going on, and you're not really out until af shows right!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@princessandthebee: I do feel more prepared because of my nanny experience. I worry it'll make me over confident though, and I'll be more overwhelmed because I thought I was prepared (if that makes any sense). I started with my youngest at less than 4 weeks though, so I have the newborn experience.
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@Torchwood: I wish I had *some sort of experience.* I've never even changed a diaper! And I've held a baby maybe once or twice.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@dc yoga bee: That's how my husband is. He has NO idea what to do with a baby. But he'll learn, and so will you!
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@Torchwood: I changed my dog's diaper a few times. Does that count LOL
bananas / 9229 posts
@MrsMcD: I think you'll be fine at the dentist. I went during my TWW and they put that big lead apron over you anyways!

@MrsMcD: I had a root canal during my 1st trimester when I was pregnant with LO.

I have no problem buying feminine products and fortunately neither does my husband. I get embarrassed buying condoms...no problem picking up my BC at the pharmacy but purchasing condoms makes me blush
I read some blog post on funny things to do while you're pregnant and one of them was to buy a HPT when you're like 6 months pregnant and tell the cashier you just want to make sure
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@Torchwood: Yes! I worry that I'll be overconfident with toddler years and discipline. That's cool you have newborn experience! It's helpful because we understand the terms/milestones/common behaviors but I'm just hoping I give my kids the same experience as I did my nanny kiddos! I'm sure it's totally different but I'm looking forward to being able to have my own schedule and ideals! Although by the end, I truly felt like a third co-parent with my family. I miss them
nectarine / 2358 posts
@princessandthebee: I used to nanny for a 2 year old and then for her little sister when she was born so I have toddler and newborn experience simultaneously! I did this while working in a preschool. You are so right @Torchwood I hope it doesn't make me overconfident because children are definitely different at home with mom than they are out with their teachers/nannies.
@dc yoga bee: TOTALLY counts. They are similar enough, they both have no regard to their own waste or how gross it can be and they both want to get away from you any way they can when they are pinned down. I changed my parents' dog's diaper when she was having her "lady time". You'd think I'd have tried to kill her with all those alligator death rolls she was doing.
