When I was younger, I felt like language was more unisex. But as I've gotten older, I've noticed there are these words that mostly girls use.
I just can't bring myself to use any of these words.
A partial list:
* Adorbs
* totes
* Totes adorbs
* deets
Is there such a thing as "girl words"? If so, what else would go on the list?

I've never heard any use any of those except deets.. and thats mostly in texts and on twitter but not in real life. I cant see myself using any of those either.. I dont even know what adorbs means I'm guessing adorable?

I'm sure I've heard of "deets" before, but I didn't know about "totes adorbs" until the NPR show "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" had some 15-year-old fashion blogger on and she explained teen-speak.

Some of my mommy friends talk like this and I find it so annoying. One of them even says lol but the actual letters l/o/l whenver she thinks things are funny. Reminds me of the Curb your Enthusiasm episode although I could never say anything to her haha

@sorrycharlie I HATE "I die"! I even kind of like watching Rachel Zoe (who may have started that one, but I am not sure) on her show, but wow, I can't stand when real people say that. It sounds so forced.

Another word I've only heard ladies use is "delish" (is that even how you spell it?) Like Delicious, but dropping the "ious."

We say "roughsauce" all the time. Like, "I had to work 10 straight hours today. That was roughsauce." Or "RJ's tantrum lasted a full 5 minutes. Roughsauce."

@MrBee- I think I'd giggle my ass off if I heard a man say "totes adorbs". I have a male friend who said something was "amazeballs". I just looked and him and was like, "Stop. No seriously, don't do that". I can't really think of other words that are off limits. My husband and I say a buncha silly stuff in the privacy of our own homes that he would NEVER be caught saying in public. Actually, it's really not what he says, it's how he says it.

I've never heard anyone say totes adorbs, that sounds do weird! I've never heard awesome sauce, but I've heard/seen weak sauce a lot! I don't get that one. What is the reference to sauces? Are they trying to compare hot sauces.... Like habanero to tobasco or something?

I feel so out of touch with popular culture! What about "bananas" a la Rachel Zoe?
I cringe when I read my teenage cousins' FB pages. They use such terrible language and/or words I don't know. Am I getting old or are kids just getting more lewd/potty mouthed? I have a pretty bad potty mouth IRL, but it's mostly standard New Yorker cussing (i.e. sh*t). I definitely don't use politically incorrect or racist words to address my friends, which I've noticed a lot on some of these teenage FB discussions.

Has anyone heard the term "cluster"? Apparently it's new. I think it usually has the f word attached to it. Usage I've heard from my married, non-parent friend: "My apartment is so messy, it's a total cluster"
