Maybe it's because it's 3:30 am and I'm not comprehending correctly, but the last two paragraphs are both badly written and leave a mistaken impression that there is some connection between measles vaccine and autism. This has been thoroughly debunked in many studies.

Scary about measles rates.
His statement on Wakefield being a hero who lost his license for going against big pharma is a little weird, though. Andrew Wakefield wasn't disciplined because he's a renegade hero. He was disciplined because an investigation found he had falsified data.

@Mrs. Jacks: uhh same here. It's kind of disturbing to read him referred to like that - the man was a fraud who falsified data. There is no link. Period.

@Mrs. Jacks: @LittleFox: @Mrs. J: @sotofamilia: Agreed. 11AM and it still leaves me uneasy. I got directed to this guys blog by someone else recently (don't remember the exact article) but again, it left me feeling distinctly uneasy and questioning what on Earth he was thinking. I mean this post starts out so well with important info (presumably why your ped felt it a good one to share @Vegmama:)...and then descends into the realms of quackery. He even ends on a personal anecdote as evidence - really?? Cause and effect, statistics, peer review...where did he get his doctorate exactly?
Wakefield was a fraud, a greedy fraud. There was no doubt that he should have been struck off, as he was. I wonder how many deaths he is responsible for? I also wonder how USCIS let him into the US...that's scary and makes me angry for all the people that struggle to get a visa who have legitimate and valuable contributions to make to science and medicine. Grrr.

The one thing I like is drawing the public's attention to the R in MMR. This whole generation of kids without MMR getting pregnant in 25 years is terrifying. If they don't realize how scary ruebella is during pregnant and take care of it before, we could have a resurgence of very scary birth defects and stillbirths.
