I'm feeling a bit discouraged--I'm at 7 DPO and started spotting yesterday. Today the spotting was pretty heavy, even some clots, and I've had light cramping. Hard to even try to make myself believe this could possibly be implantation, so mostly I'm discouraged that my crazy tons-of-spotting/bleeding cycles that have been plaguing me for 3+ years might keep us from getting KU. My GYN told me to TTC and if it didn't work after 6 mos she'd look into the irregular bleeding further. So frustrating when you feel like your body is "misfiring" and you don't know why.

@littlek: did you take a HPT at all? Maybe you didn't get AF, since you said it was super light. My SIL had what she thought was her period but she was pregnant. Not to get your hopes up and this thought has already crossed your mind I'm sure. It just seems off to all of a sudden ovulate so early!
pomelo / 5720 posts
@littlek: do you have one to take now? I got a similar line on a OPK in sept when I was pregnant, then I took a digital to confirm.

@bushelandapeck: I actually woke up late this morning and B has a dr appt this afternoon so earliest I can test is tonight.

@littlek: That looks positive, for sure. That is so weird that you are ovulating so early, but get to BDing Maybe your body just reaaalllyy reaalllyy wants to get pregnant in this magical month!

@delight: I showed my husband and he said "that's dark".. Weird...

@littlek: do you chart? Can you post your chart from last month and now?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@littlek: That looks positive. Just seems really early. I would take a pregnancy test as well since your period was so light this time.
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@littlek: You need to POAS stat! Can you take a quick break at work and pop out to the drug store?
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@delight: I actually gave up on charting because I had trouble with taking my temp consistently
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@littlek: Actually I agree with @MsLipGloss: you need to run out from work really quick...

@littlek: I was thinking the hpt thing yesterday too but I had assumed you had tested last month. If I were you I would take one tonight, at this point if you are pregnant it would certainly be positive, otherwise maybe your body is just super excited about this month! (very scientific logic there I know...)
@stratosphere: That really stinks. I know not everyone feels this way but if you know you have to wait 6 months maybe consider something like B6 to try to help your lp out yourself. At that point I would consider calling another doctor or two, that much bleeding so early would just bug me anyway, ttc or not.

What does it mean if there is a shadow on a HPT? I took one last night (4 hour hold) and there was definitly something different in the middle, it wasn't darker, but almost lighter then the rest of the circle. I had not seen that on any of the other FR tests...... I didn't test this morning... Will test Thursday which is when AF is due. I have no AF symptoms (no spotting on CD 22), and still same symptoms- cramps, exhaustion, thirsty, peeing a lot (I have a small bladder to begin with, but I can barely make it from the morning bell to recess without dancing (1 hour 45 minutes). Now talking myself off the crazy train, I am always tired the week before my period, which I have been last week and this week (in bed by 8 every night, sleeping by 9, up at 6), and the cramps could be gearing up for AF (for for 2 weeks?@?@?@?@??)
@ littlek- so!?!?!? It is a magical month!

@MrsScottish: What kind of test? Pictures? Blue dye tests seem to be notorious for weird lines/false positives.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
Do you guys do a hold before you test with an OPK? I didn't hold yesterday and I wonder if that affected the test. I was soo excited I'd gotten my new OPKs I had to use one... eventhough I had just peed... I have issues... LOL
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@littlek: You don't need to hold for an OPK. They don't have to be concentrated. It's actually usually recommended that you don't use FMU either (although I would so I could test in the morning and in the afternoon).
pomelo / 5326 posts
@littlek: I always did a hold. The fact that you didn't and it was still that dark makes me feel like something is up! At least if you are O'ing early you caught it!
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@MrsKoala: Cool. I read somewhere holding for 2 hours and that's sooo hard. I drink a ton of water during the day.
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@littlek: I do a hold, but not doing a hold and still getting a dark line doesn't sound like a faulty test, sounds like positive could have been even darker. I really really hope you don't wait til tonight to check the HPT situation
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
Is it possible I have faulty OPKs? I don't feel any ovulation cramps.. and I normally get them.
nectarine / 2932 posts
@littlek: I don't normally do a hold for OPK's. Also, the month I got a BFP I had positive OPK's waaaay too early (and had a full AF)! Can't wait for you to test!
persimmon / 1388 posts
@littlek: I always do a 4 hour hold. I feel like my tests are more accurate if my urine has the same-ish concentration each day - that's just me, though! But wow, CD6 is super early to O! I'm at CD6 right now and still have AF, lol!!
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@doxielove: I seriously only took the OPK because I had just gotten them... I was expecting to see nothing. I normally start testing CD9 and it's a very slight line. I'm pretty clockwork ovulating at CD12.
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@littlek: *ahem* I don't think your tests are faulty . . . I think you're taking the wrong test, yo.
grapefruit / 4187 posts
@littlek: I got pregnant with the help of an RE and they told me to wait until the afternoon to take the ovulation test. They said your body starts producing it in the morning and therefore the test is most accurate mid afternoon or early evening. And of course make sure you don't drink a ton of water right before, drink a small amount a couple of hours before the test and hold it. Good luck!

@MrsScottish: If you are using a Wondfo HPT, there is a little trick I noticed when I got my BFP... This is a little hard to explain, so bear with me. If you watch the test area as the liquid crosses it, the test line area will generally show up bright white as the pink dye crosses it and then fade to the same color as the rest of the strip (for a negative test). When it's , there is no flash of bright white - the test line area stays neutral and then gradually absorbs the dye.
I have found the same to be true with OPKs - if it is +, it shows right away, like as the dye crosses the test line. If it takes a while to darken, even if it gets *almost* as dark as the control line, that's a negative.
@littlek: You do not have to hold for OPKs. They will show a positive even with super diluted U. I tested and got a + OPK Sunday morning with FMU, Sunday evening with VERY diluted U, and yesterday morning with FMU.
If you get a +OPK with FMU, it basically means that you are a day behind because your LH surge starts in the morning and is detectable by an OPK the afternoon of the surge... so a + OPK with FMU means that your surge started the day before. (I always test with FMU and get a + OPK at O or O-1 and O... in the scenario above, I O'ed yesterday).
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@septca: thats good info! Do you know if the positive opk with fmu indicates your surge started the day before logic holds true with digital opk as well?
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@dc yoga bee: Yep! Your surge is not detectable until the afternoon, so if you are only testing with FMU, you are a day "behind." Most women O 12-36 hours after their surge can be detected, so if you only test with FMU, your O will be the first day you get a + OPK or the next day. (If you test in the afternoon, your likely O day is the day after your first + OPK or the day after that...)
