LO is 10 weeks old and EBF. I know it's pretty normal for the pooping to slow down around this age, but she hasn't pooped in a week! She hasn't seemed too uncomfortable until today. I am NOT looking forward to changing this diaper.

Do you give her gripe water? Its worked wonders for my LO. My mom swears by it and at first I didnt want to give it a chance but now we cant go a day without it

Aww, that sucks! My LO went about 11 days without a BM so we took her to the Dr. Her doctor told us to give her diluted apple juice in addition to formula/breastmilk.. After the first apple juice bottle, she had a massive blow out!

It is normal to go that long without a poopy diaper, but when it comes, it will be a disaster. You might want to avoid some of your favorite outfits for a few days and stick to darker colors or cheaper clothing. Once DS blew out after 8 days without a poopy diaper I had to throw out about 3 outfits.

@Mrsbells: I always forget about gripe water. It's never worked before, but it's worth a shot!
I'm just hoping she can hold off until this evening. We have to run errands about 30 minutes away, and I don't want to deal with a blowout at Nordstrom!

@c.sassy: puppy pee pads in your diaper bag! If/when the blowout comes, you can change her on this, it soaks up any residual mess and then just throw it away with the diaper. LO had a blowout this morning and I put one down befor I changed her, save me having to wash her change pad (again!)

My LO went about a week and a half without pooping and I started to get worried but it eventually came. My doc told me to try a tiny bit of prune juice in a bottle if you have to but it's not uncommon for EBF babies to go up to a few weeks. If she looks uncomfortable or straining, I'd call the doc, otherwise, just wait for the blowout!

Definitely talk to your ped, but mine recommended us giving our LO a little bit of water as well as trying to sticking up a well lubed q-tip there to act as suppository. both things have always helped our LO.

same happened to us and lasted until we started solids at 4.5 months. our pedi suggested 2oz prune juice mixed with 2oz water - nothing happened. we tried the rectal thermometer covered in vaseline - nothing happened. he also said we could try a baby glycerin suppository. DS almost always would go the day before I decided I was going to do that. He never went more than 7 days without though.
now that he's trying all kinds of new foods at 7 months he goes almost every other day.

Mine would go almost 2 weeks without pooping. We weren't concerned except that when he would finally go, it would be reasonably solid and then followed by green stool. That for us was a sign that things weren't working right. He was ultimately diagnosed with Milk Soy Protein Intollerance.
