I could probably make 3 different posts, but whatever.
So E has had what looks like...a tiny, shiny bright red crater on his bum (about the size of a pencil eraser) for the past week or so. We tried giving him tons of diaper-less time, baking soda in the bath, a couple different creams, and nothing happened, except that today he had a bigger rash on his bum. We've been on vacation, so I called his pedi today and they had me bring him in to look at it.
I texted DH to let him know I was going in, and he offered to come home from work to drive us (we're a one-car family at the moment) but it was sunny out, if a bit warm, so I said we were fine to walk (it's only about a mile and a half). Halfway there it starts to pour, so I walked in dripping (E was almost completely covered).
His pedi was running behind (although I'm glad she was able to see us on such short notice at all) and between the waiting room and the exam room my very over-tired, cranky baby and I waited for nearly an hour. Unusual for our office, so no big. She diagnoses it as a yeast infection (with the "crater" part being the worst) and calls in a scrip for Ketoconazole cream. The nearest CVS is a mile away, but it had stopped raining and was just gross humid.
So off we went. While we were waiting in line at the pharmacy I peeked in E's mouth (he let me for once) and noticed 3 new teeth, and the white cap under the skin of a 4th! (I'm fairly certain they're his canines). YAY! He's been pretty miserable the past few weeks so we've been hoping they'd come through soon!! PS my 11.5 month old now has 11, almost 12 teeth!
And finally, the grouch. After we left CVS we had to walk 2 miles home, and it started POURING again. I could have called DH but I would have been home in the time it took him to get to me, it's his first day back at work in over a week, and Mondays are SUPER busy. And it wasn't thunder-stormy (totally a word, yes), so I didn't mind just walking in the rain.
But apparently everyone else did. I got a ton of glares from people and a few people stopped (when we were under an awning) to inform me that I was going to give my baby pneumonia. Seriously guys? You really think I'm doing this for funsies? And even if I was, so what? It's 75 out, not 50. It's a warm rain. I'M the one of us getting soaked, E was covered by the canopy except for the very ends of his feet, and those he'd even pulled up. And by that point he was zonked out because he'd been up for so long--doesn't seem to be bothering him that much!
Anyway, that's been my Monday so far. How is everyone else doing today??
