I have a lot of the A&A swaddles, and I never understood all the hype about them. And then my friend gave me a used one from when her kids used it. It feels so different, and I think its because I got mine from target. I'm considering getting a couple to send to m,y 18mo daycare for nap time, and for general use when we are out. How long did you use those blankets. Will my LO grow out of it soon?

Our A&A blankets are still used by 3 yo DS1. They're his lovey as well as his security blankets. We had to get new sets for DS2 because DS1 would never give his up!

Most of the 3 year olds in my daughter's class still use them at nap time.

My 4 yr old still takes them for nap time in the summer. They obviously dont cover her fully but mostly.

Dd1 still uses hers at 2.5 - for nap time, playing, at the beach, in the stroller... Everywhere !
The ones I bought at Target sucked, they definitely are not as soft !

DD is 12 months and we haven't regularly used any kind of receiving blankets for a few months now, basically stopped when she started seriously crawling. But maybe we'll reintroduce them when I feel safe putting them in the crib with her.

My 3 year old still takes one to school for nap, and has another one that she loves for home. We also have newer ones for the 4 month old.

My three year old still loves his "nanas" (what he calls his muslim swaddle blankets). He has one that he keeps at daycare (and will give it a hug and a kiss when we leave), and two that he carries around and sleeps with at home. Plus a bunch of spares!
"Nana" was one of the first words my one year old learned and he's OBSESSED with these blankets. He has six of his own and is constantly stealing Xander's too. This is going to be a long obsessive, I can already tell!

We use ours every day. We have 1 set of regular, 2 from Target. The Target are smaller and a little rougher. Most of ours have ripped both Target and not...but my 3 yo sleeps with at least 2 per night!

LO is almost 4 and we still use ours all the time. She has 1 with her at nap time / quiet time, and we travel with one because they are so light but it's nice to have a little something for airplanes, etc.
The Target ones are definitely rougher. You get what you pay for, I suppose!

@Pumpkin Pie: My SIL still uses them for my niece and she is almost 3. She sleeps with one every night and when she naps.

DS uses them still at 2 - to sleep, to snuggle, and to play. I just bought some for my brother and SIL for their baby because they are wonderful.

We use it as a blanket in the warmer months... My DS is 2.5.

The ones from Target are "just" "Aden" blankets, which are the cheaper, not-so-soft kind. Same company, different product. Whomp whomp.... A&A is so expensive!

E uses his as lovies, he's almost 4. He has two at daycare and two at home. They are the cheaper target ones, and after 4 years of washing, they are super soft. I don't know how the more expensive ones feel, but I never thought the target ones were so rough they were junk.

My 2.5 year old keeps one A&A swaddle at daycare for naps and sleeps with both a swaddle and a dream blanket at night. We love them and I don't see her outgrowing them anytime soon.

Still using it at almost 4 as a blanket for travel. Was great for the plane.

LO 1 still uses an AA blanket for naps at preschool at age 4! The blankets from the target line are a few inches smaller.

I think till like 2.5. DS used one as a blanket in the summer. We switched to a proper blanket when it got cold, and I think he's quite outgrown the A&A in the meantime.

Are the "real" A&A muslin blankets a bit thicker than the target ones? I find the targets ones super thin and really flimsy.

@kiddosc: any tips on softening the Target ones up? Or just lots and lots of washing? We have a bunch of these in addition to a few from the premium line and I prefer the size/prints of the Target line.

I'm in the minority and didn't use any of them very much at all. I switched to cheater/lazy swaddles, like the HALO sleepsack, and found I like the bigger flannel blankets from Swaddle Designs more for wrapping my winter baby up. Last time I used one was on a plane for a nursing cover up.

@PinkElephant: I wonder if you could try some of the things people do with babywearing wraps to break it in--like sit on it, braid it, stretch it like a hammock and put something heavy in it....

@PinkElephant: I think it's just lots of washing and wear. He balls them up and sleeps on them every night, so they've been well used.

We probably have 20 between both kids. It's a little silly but we still use them a ton at ages 2 and 3. The target ones won't ever be as soft as their real a & a's..I'm thinking maybe they don't have as much cotton in them. The real ones are just so soft!

We still use ours but my kids never took them on as security blankets. We like them for sun shade and a fun toy (car wash game).

Lol, we still occasionally use them at 3.5! (For "resting time" and especially now that baby brother has his own.)

I don't find that mine are all that soft either though. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe it's the whole shared laundry machines thing. I looooooove the one milkbarn brand one we were gifted. That one was super pricey (like $27 for one on amazon!) but it's the best!!

I never used mine when lo was a newborn or infant, except to cover the bucket seat when out and about. Now, at 22 months, I've just reintroduced them as a light blanket in his crib and he seems to like it a lot. So I'm hoping to get use of out them that way!
