AKA why I love small local businesses.
So Evan has started pulling himself up, and after one of his naps today pulled himself up in his crib and tried to launch himself over. Not cool. Obviously I need to lower the crib (which was a huge PITA. They need to make them able to move with a crank or lever or switch or something). But I couldn't find my tool bag anywhere (still have no idea where it is) which had the Allen wrench that came with the crib in it.
Okay that's cool, no big. There's a small hardware store about two blocks away that I can pop into. Look around for a bit, don't see them, ask the guy behind the counter for help. He asks what size I need. Um, they come in more than one size? Derp.
I start to babble for a minute about how it's for the crib and my kid was standing up and I thought they were all a standard size when he interrupts me to hand me what I can only describe as a Swiss Army Knife of Allen wrenches. Like a dozen different sizes. Tells me to bring it home, fix the crib and bring it back to him in a day or two. Wouldn't even let me pay anything to "rent" it. Just made me promise to bring it back.
I was pretty much stunned...I mean granted it probably isn't super valuable or anything, but who does that sort of thing anymore??
Anyway, it sort of made my afternoon! And now E can't launch himself over the side (at least for a while longer).
