Does anyone have any experiences with either adopting a young child or a sibling set they are willing to share? Our original intention was to strive for a domestic infant adoption. However, after much reflection, both DH and I have shifted our focus to adopting a younger child or children. We are scheduled to attend an orientation class next month and are anxious to learn more about the process.

No experience but good luck! I know people who have done foster to adopt with sibling groups and some other kids under 5. I look forward to hearing about your experience as we may are starting discussions about this possibility.

Good luck to you! My brothers are a sibling set, but were placed with my parents as they were born. The adoption was final when they were 4 & 3 years old. I know it isn't the same, but if I can help at all, ask away.

I had two foster brothers growing up. I think it's easier when the kids you bring in to your family are the only kids and I would never recommend bringing kids in with a child who is younger than them already in the house. (But that's a different topic that doesn't apply to you). Regardless, good luck!

Thank you for all of the good luck wishes! I am getting the impression our adoption journey is going to be interesting. DH and I were able to attend an agency orientation class in another part of the state this past Wednesday. Due to the limited resources in our home area, we will need to trail blaze our own path. On one hand, that seems daunting. However, if things work out the way we hope, we will be in the very best position to find the appropriate match for our little family. Our decision is not a popular one. The reality of the challenges that come with raising a child who has suffered trauma is not something either of us is taking lightly. And, honestly, it may never work out. We can live with that. Despite that, I do have a very strong feeling there is a child out there who needs us as much as we need him or her. :0)

I don't have any experience but its an amazing thing to do! I am excited to hear more about your experience. It's something I would love to do in the future.
