I actually didn't get that much advice before childbirth. But when my contractions started at 6:45am, I got in the shower and got ready for the day because I figured it'd be my last time being able to enjoy blow drying my hair and doing my makeup for a while! Everyone thought I was nuts and told me later that it didn't matter. It made me feel better though and it gave me something to do to pass the time.

Ha-- I like your mom's advice a lot better! I think getting yourself together that day-- blow drying your hair, maybe VERY light makeup, makes sense. I know I feel better when I do those things even on crappy days. Ignoring your doctor's advice to go with a c-section... um, maybe that's not the best advice.

I haven't had too much advice yet- only 26 weeks-- but one person did tell me how important it is to have the midwife massage the perineum or something... I haven't gotten that far in my birthing books to I'm pretending it's not a thing yet, but will keep it in mind. She did have a pretty big baby without tearing.
