My period is 3 days late, but no sign of Af. Mild cramps and a negative test at 12dpo. My period has never been late especially not 3 days. Anyone have thoughts?

Are you tracking your cycle at all? Maybe you just ovulated late.

@BrianaK: This happened to me during my last cycle. I always have normal cycles and am never late. I was 4 days late last month and I think I used about 15 pregnancy tests. Just had to wait it out. Good luck!

I would test again. No way to know other than that.

@BrianaK: Have you been stressed lately? It could have made you ovulate late and so you might not be at 12 DPO yet. Did you confirm the O date by OPKs or temping?

I was a whole week late last cycle. I think a good part of it was stress. I would wait a day or two and test again. Good luck!

I did get a positive opk on Feb 17th so I'm assuming I ovulated by the 18th. I haven't been more stressed than usual and I haven't tested since yesterday 12 dpo.

@BrianaK: You're 3 days late at 12dpo? That would mean a typical LP of 9 days which is pretty short. Have you used OPKs before this cycle?

@BrianaK: I'm not sure I understand how you're 13 DPO but you're also 3 days late? Is your average luteal phase only 10 days?

Yes my average luteal phase is only 10 days. The doctor knows and hasn't seemed all that concerned. He was planning to put me on clomid along with progesterone this month to try and lengthen my lp.

@kiddosc: yes I've used opks since July. My lp is typically 10 days but has varied from 9 to 11 in the past.

How long are your cycles? Do you ovulate very late?

Your LP might just be longer this month, but I also wouldn't give up hope yet and keep testing.

@BandDmommy: I usually ovulate around day 17 so my ovulation is a little late.

@BrianaK: This happened to me last month and it was due to a luteal cyst that kept producing progesterone and kept AF away. AF came about 5 or so days late. I was temping and knew exactly when I ovulated. Are you temping? If not, it's possible you got a positive opk and your body attempted to O, but for some reason didn't at that time. Were you also tracking CM? If your CM dried up after your positive OPK then your O date is probably correct. It's also possible that you could be pregnant and implanted late. A lot of people still get negatives at 12 dpo. Only time will tell. TTC can be so darn frustrating! Keep us posted!

@skipper2010: how do you find out if you have luteal cyst? I just had an hsg this month as well. I don't temp but I know that last month I went for an ultrasound to confirm o and then a blood test. I don't think my cm ever really dries up is usually just becomes more school glue like after o. I am planning to test tomorrow which would be 14 dpo.

After 11 months ttc with all the tests saying nothing is wrong, I'd be extremely happy with late implantation and a bfp!!

Even if you had a positive OPK on the 17th, that doesn't guarantee you ovulated the next day, or even at all. Sometimes OPKs can be positive for a few days and generally you don't ovulate until it goes negative.
Also, regardless of your LP length, implantation will still take 5-12 days and then it will take a couple more days to show up on a pregnancy test, depending on it's sensitivity. So just because your LP is normally <12 days doesn't mean it would show up any faster on a pregnancy test just because you're late.
