LO's diaper rash (from diarrhea) is pretty bad right now. She had her 9 month well appointment yesterday and our pediatrician prescribed a Nystatin paste and told us to let LO go diaperless as much as possible.
Any tips? She still has diarrhea right now so we are worried about messy accidents!

if you can get her to sit still, puppy pee pads are my go to for diaper free time. They soak up any mess, and are easy to toss. No real cleanup. I'll put a bunch down over her play mat and let her roll around on them.

I can't imagine trying to have a whole diaper less day do maybe just try a few hours at a time? Post bath or post next diarrea? We had some bad diaper rash this summer but we didn't try diaper less. We just switched from cloth to plastic (which wicks moisture away better) and used a 1:1:1 ratio of yeast infect cream, diaper rash cream and hydrocortisone cream. Doctor DH recommended it. Worked every time! Thin layer of it.

You could try some prefold cloth diapers. They woul let air flow but catch the mess.

Fitteds or prefolds without a cover would be helpful so air is getting to the bottom but the mess is relatively contained.

@autumnlove: We are experiencing the same situation! After a stomach bug last week, my LO has diaper rash that just won't quit. It's the first time she's had it, so I wasn't sure what to do. I am going to try "airing her out." Her nine month appointment is tomorrow so I'm going to make the doctor look at it.

When I was babysitting a 10 month old with diaper rash, we would put out a big old blanket and put her toys on there, and she was pretty content to play on there. When she'd have an accident, that was when diaper-free play time was over and we'd throw it in the wash, put her cream on and slap the diaper back on.

basically, until her diarrhea goes away all you can do is maintain it (make sure it doesn't get worse). there's no getting rid of it until the diarrhea is gone 
at least, that was the case with wagon jr.
I was hesitant to let baby go diaper-free since I'm such a control freak, but it really is the best way to go, at least until the skin is bone-dry and you can get some cream on it to be a barrier. I just covered the entire floor with towels, waterproof pads, and pee pads. It actually helped me understand that he wasn't peeing and pooping all the time..! I only watched him pee and poop on the pads a couple of times.

Chux pads are awesome for this b/c you can just toss them! Time outside diaper free is good too.... the sun is great against yeast & you don't really have to worry about clean up.
If you think it is yeasty then be sure to treat all cloth dipes or clothes/blankets that come in contact with the bare bottom
And talk to your pedi about probiotics if lo isn't already taking them. They'll help balance out the yeast and even help get over whatever is causing the diarrhea. =)
