Kids these days have totally embraced technology even if the tech hasn’t caught up with them!
Last night my mom called me and LO wanted in on the conversation, took the phone and said “I can’t see her. She no FaceTime.” What’s your little techie up to?

Omg this is so funny. We don’t have an Alexa but my parents do, and DD (20 mo) loves it. Her speech isn’t good enough to get it to do anything she wants (which is usually to play the “Top Dance Hits” station) but it’s just a matter of time.

My DS (3.5 and severely speech delayed) yells at "Geecko" (* our Alexa is "Echo.") to "drop on Teagie" (intercom mode to my daughter's art studio off of her bedroom) and "lighch uff" (turn living room lights off). The Echo has NO clue what he is saying and I feel bad so I manually operate Echo from my cell. Positive reinforcement for "using his words" and it tickles him pink!

DD has conversations with Alexa all the time, just asking her random questions or asking for jokes. Though she mainly uses it to play shake it off or let it go a thousand times a day, unfortunately.
She also will regularly take my phone and FaceTime my mom while I am preoccupied with something else.

My son has Alexa play Baby Shark at least 5 million times a day. No exaggeration. If we start to ask Alexa to do anything he screams "PLAY BABY SHARK SONG!!"

My DS (18 mo) is speech delayed and doesn't say "mama" or "papa" yet, but will yell "Ayaya" in the direction of Alexa and start dancing around cause he knows that's how we get music to play

DH just bought an Alexa- clearly for LO. I think we’ll be going on Bear Hunts all day everyday for a while.

She said something like, 'I know her by reputation' but it was in a snide tone that it made me LOL. My husband is an engineer and made it his mission to make our home a smart home so we're yelling at Alexa all day.

Sometimes it’s just easier to walk over and turn off the light instead of yelling at Alexa to do it couple of times. 🤦♀️

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: My son LOVES your post! We have watched it 6 times in a row! The song is catchy and he calls the little girl, "peddy gurl" (* pretty girl). I was able to catch him bopping along with my cell as we played it on my tablet.

@misolee: Agreed! I think DH likes to make my life "easier" (in theory) by making it more difficult with all of his "nifty" technological innovations to implement around the house!

My three yo asked Alexa “when does the ice cream store close”. And since it’s the echo show, she then chose an ice cream store on the screen and Alexa gave us directions on the map. She turns to me and goes “mama we have to leave now. Alexa says is going to close”. Which was true. And so scary.

@misolee: @Kaohinani: MY DH is the same! Our house keeps getting more “improvements” and sometimes I feel like they just make things more complicated. So many echos, smart plugs etc.
