I don't know if it's more "Eco-friendly" but we use vacuum sealers as well. We use ziploc bags for things that we know we will eat quick. Vacuum sealers for things that will be staying in the freezer longer because it protects against freezer burn better.

I use glass tupperware.

@chopsuey119: whoa! yes, i microwave in the same glass container after thawing it in the fridge. that is scary!! did it just crack or explode?

@chopsuey119: yeah, you're not having any luck with glass lately! be careful! did you have a lid on? i always take the lid off and cover with a paper towel.

If you get a foodsaver, they have those tupperwear containers that you can vacuum seal.

@chopsuey119: Yeah, glass will break if it goes from cold to hot too quickly. Glass expands when heated. Also, glass is a bad conductor of heat. If you use glass containers for freezing, make sure they are heat- resistant, like those Pyrex containers.

I usually freeze large amounts of food in plastic containers, like those ziploc or glad containers. I'll reheat it in the container to the point where it can slip out of the container, then continue heating in a regular bowl.
