So yesterday, while trying to save my son's poor, sensitive ears from the excruciatingly loud blaring siren of a fire truck I dropped my iPhone (4S) and the screen cobweb cracked.
We're on a tight budget this month, and running out and buying a new one really isn't in the budget, and getting it repaired would still run close to $200.
My FIL still has his old 3G (or 3GS, I'm not sure) and brought it to me today. Cool! He and my MIL even stopped by the Apple Store to get it changed to my number (well, not so cool, they did it to help, but...)
BUT as it turns out, NONE of my apps I have on my 4S will run on the 3. None. Not my baby monitor, FB, my email, WWF, IG, Waze, USAA...nothing. Apparently the OS on the 3 is not high enough, and all Apple Support will tell me is to upgrade the OS...but it's already as upgraded as it can be. I can still use my apps on my cracked phone, however.
So I currently have two phones (First World Problems!) one that is not cracked on which I can call/text people. The other I cannot do those things but I have my apps still.
So here's my question: does anyone have any experience with downgrading a model? Every time I try to google it results about downgrading it talks about jailbreaking and downgrading to a lower OS. Is there any way I can access my apps? Should I just use both phones until I can afford a new one? Anyone know where I can a cheap iPhone 4+?
