I just bought A an amber teething necklace this week. The person who sold it to me said not to leave it on his neck at night (which made sense to me), but I could double wrap it around his ankle so he still got the benefits. But then a mom told me that she leaves it on all the time.
So, what do you do? If you do take it off at night, do you take it off for naps, also?

I leave it on for naps when I can closely watch him on the video monitor. I also double wrap around his ankle at night, but it often slips off.

I uses to take it off and put it on his ankle but around 16 months I just started leaving it on all the time.

I leave it on for naps sometimes, but take it off for bed. I just worry too much. We have gotten out of the habit of putting it on her everyday, but recently have started again and man it helps so much!

I leave it on her (lo is 18 months) because when teething, night time is worse for her. The first night I was super worried.

Just FYI the department of human services actually just required our day care to no longer allow children to wear these necklaces because of safety concerns so I would really do your research before using them.

@Mrs. Lion: my guess is choking but the email from day care didn't go into more detail and we don't use one so I didn't look into it. Just wanted to put the PSA out there for those that use them! I probably wouldn't be comfortable using at night but then again I'm the freak who wouldn't even give my LO an A&A blanket in her crib until her 1st bday!

@MamaMoose: I will check into it. Ours is very well knotted, so I don't see choking as an issue for us (and even if he did swallow one, the beads are tiny...I don't think it could cause him to choke....
Strangulation could be an issue if it got caught on something, but there is nothing in our crib for it to catch on. Definitely worth looking into though. Thanks for sharing!

she usually leaves it on all the time (naps, bath, night sleep), but i have taken it off recently because i haven't seen any new teeth in a while!
