I have a friend whose daughter is Emelia and I still don't know if I'm pronouncing her name right. To me, Amelia is pronounced "uh-meel-ya" but Emelia would be pronounced "Ee-meel-ya" or "Em-meel-ya."
That being said, I greatly prefer the Amelia spelling.

I have an Amelia, and our nickname for her is Meely, but her little 2-3 year old buddies called her Mia. Sometimes she calls herself that too.

I see totally different cultures when I look at each name. Fwiw, I love short names so Emi would do it for me. I know someone who named her son Charlie and that's a typically a shorter nickname. I was named a super long double name that nobody ever calls me because my nickname (which everyone always uses) was not a 'real name' according to my mom. She was influenced by a southern best friend who comes from the land of the double name.
