LO has an ear infection. Ped prescribe Amoxicillin 5ml 3x daily. She gave us the rx at 4pm and told me to make sure he got all 3 doses for today before the end of the day. Well, my pharmacy just finished filling our med and it is nearly 8pm. We just gave LO dose #1. When should we give #2 & #3 of the doctor said all 3 before the day is over? (She wanted us to make sure he didn't miss any so that the healing process could begin).
I was think in another 3h but so he gets all 3 by 3am? Is that too close?

the bottle says "every 8h" but because the ped said 3 by the end of the night, I'm like, "uh...?" Maybe she's making a special case by case rx? He went to bed anyway and goodness knows I don't want to wake him.

I would definitely wait till morning as long as he's sleeping peacefully. Poor LO, I hope he's feeling better soon!

That's odd... When I worked in a pharmacy, we usually told people to take whatever doses they could fit in that day. So in your case one dose and then continue three per day starting tomorrow.

@LindsayInNY: dh thinks the doctor didn't realize what time it was. I can see that; time flies! But-she was like, "make sure you get 3 in today and count tomorrow as day 2 of the 10." *shrugs*
He is asleep for the first time in the last 18h, so looks like he's only getting the one dose today! -
@CupQuakeWalk: Usually it's just a matter of keeping a constant dose in his system. If you picked it up right at 4, I could see maybe fitting 2 doses in. But 3? That's basically over dosing him?! If he's sleeping, I wouldn't wake him. Just keep an eye out for roughly every 8 hours going forward.
