I want to paint some older furniture this weekend and was thinking about trying this out. Has anyone used this before? If it's not worth it, I'm definitely not making the extra long trip to pick it up.

I've heard it is great, you can paint without all the prep work, as in right on top of stain/poly without stripping and sanding.
I've also read that you can make your own, with a little bit of plaster of paris mixed into paint.

@looch: I definitely don't want to strip anything. Too many crevices. And I'm pretty sure I would completely ruin everything if I thrived to make my own

I have never tried this paint out but really want to! I have heard great things about it, no sanding, priming, etc. Just paint! I think you should get the wax too.

I re-finish furniture as a hobby, and I actually don't love Annie Sloan chalk paint. I painted our kitchen table in it, and I have to touch it up constantly. I think there's a lot of hype surrounding it and its SUPER over-priced. I prefer Miss Mustard Seed paint or CeCe Caldwell hands down!

@grizz: oh really. Does the mustard seed paint work the same way? Like no sanding or anything?

@grizz: Even with the wax? I really want to skip sanding/stripping, so if the others work the same way I'll definitely check them out!

You can skip the prep, but you have to seal it afterward, so there's really not much time savings. And as Grizz says, it needs touching up - especially at the corners.
I really like Benjamin Moore Impervo for furniture with just a light sanding before. It dries super hard, which is not the case with a lot of paints I've used on furniture in the past.

@Springtime: Yep, it works exactly the same!
@Weagle: I would rather do the prep work than the wax. I hate, hate, hate Annie Sloan wax. With the Miss Mustard Seed and CeCe Caldwell you can skip the prep and seal it with whatever kind of clear-coat you wanted afterward. A furniture refinishing blogger I read wrote a review on Annie Sloan paint/wax - her blog is called Altar'd. She echoes pretty much all my thoughts about it
