My husband and I want to take a 3-4 night trip for our 5th anniversary this fall but have no idea where to go! We're open to any location without Zika within a 4ish hour flight from Dallas (so likely just continental US). Ideally I'll be a couple months pregnant but obviously that's not a certainty. Any ideas? We've been to San Francisco, NYC, Boston, LA, Vail, and New Orleans in the last couple years. We're pretty much open to anything!

Palm Springs, Scottsdale, Leavenworth (not sure if there is an airport closer than SeaTac) Nashville is awesome.
What specific month? We love Vegas in October.

What about Asheville or North Carolina in the mountains? The leaves are beautiful, great weather, see the Biltmore, hiking, fancy shopping and eating, etc.! Maybe a bit harder to get to without a direct flight and you'd likely need to rent a car.

I feel like I always just suggest Vegas, but Vegas! I’ve been pregnant and not pregnant and had a blast either way. Pool time, wandering the strip, spa, outlet mall, nice dinner, maybe a show.

@skinnycow: I've been to Vegas pregnant. It was fun but the walking in heels and the smoke smell got to me by the end of our trip.
I live in Phoenix. Scottsdale and Sonoma would both likely be very nice in September

Any hotel recommendations? I stayed at the Aria and Cosmopolitan for work trips about 5 years ago but are there any others I should look at? I know those two are a little pricey compared to others on the strip.

DH and I went to Scottsdale and Sedona when I was 5 months pregnant. We loved it but also wished we had spent more time in Sedona, it was gorgeous!

@skinnycow: For a special occasion, childfree, I’d stay at the Wynn - it’s the nicest of the places I’ve tried (Mandalay Bay, Aria, Cosmo, Wynn).

San Diego! We just returned from a trip there - it's beautiful and has so many potential activities.
I personally hate Vegas but to each their own... though I've only gone pregnant -
Seattle is beautiful in the fall if you have rain gear (boots and hooded rainjacket or poncho). You could go city for 2 days (Pike Place, food, culture etc.) then go to the country. We went to this state park last October for our anniversary. We went on waterfall hike, saw the salmon running upstream, seals, Rosewood Elk, bald eagles, bear tracks and we could have dug for clams, crabs and such if we timed it right. The oysters at the restaurant up the street were to die for. We stayed in these great heated cabins. It was a gorgeous park and drive/ferry ride up. Here is the site. Trust me, it is a hidden gem.

I think Napa / Sonoma would be my first choice given those constraints. We stayed in a lovely B&B there for about 3 nights and had a fantastic time.
I personally dislike Vegas though, so I'm biased. I am also biased against vacationing in a large city because I live in an urban community and work in Manhattan. And my husband and I both love wine!
