Which part?

You getting her out of bed, when you are the one that gets ready first?

You making her breakfast/ turning on the TV when you would much rather walk out of the house?

When she is unsupervised for 5-10 minutes on a different floor than your husband?

I would probably be annoyed. Where I see the remedy is while you shower he could make/ feed her breakfast. Then, when he showers perhaps she can hang out in your room and watch TV. What would you like to see happen?

@Ajsmommy: yeah, if only! I'm not terribly efficient, so him showering and shaving while you do and your daughter is in bed totally escaped me. Maybe him too!

@Ajsmommy: Yes, that would bug me. I don't like to have my child eating unattended, what if there was choking?

One of us gets up first, it's usually my husband. He gets ready, but not dressed. Then I go and get ready. I go and wake up my son and then my husband gets dressed.

@Ajsmommy: maybe you could suggest that if he wants to lay around he can do it downstairs on the couch after he gets her food and situated. Then he could bring her to your room while he gets ready. So just switching it around. That way you don't have to rush and do it and she's not unattended. This would work for us since dining space and living space are combined.

If he is doing daycare drop off and has to get himself to work, I wouldn't be worried about when he gets ready. That's his problem not mine. I'd only be mad if it was somehow making you late or if your daughter was in school and he was making her late, then I'd be mad.

If he complains that they are late, have you ever suggested he gets in the shower as soon as you're out? Maybe the next time he complains, if you frame it as "just try this and see how it works" vs complaining that you think he should be getting ready sooner out of the blue, he'll be more compliant. I know my DH doesn't respond well to me criticizing or just suddenly complaining about something he had no idea I was annoyed with.

@Ajsmommy: I am totally your husband in this situation. I am sure it drives him crazy but I just can't get out of bed in the morning! I blame it on being up with the baby several times during the night but he will sometimes get up with the older kids if they wake MOTN. If he complained I would try harder! So maybe just ask him to do whatever would be better for the routine.

Totally! This is how my DH on church mornings (only day of the week we both need to get ready within the same time frame) and it drives me bananas. Especially because he gets pretty annoyed when I'm not done in the bathroom when he is finally ready to take a shower (not sure why he won't just get in while I finish up!). I've learned to let it go because getting mad didn't change it but yes, I would be very annoyed!

I'm like your husband DS gets up super early, usually 5:30 so he hangs out with Dad while I sleep in, and then he'll bring him in to me when he leaves at 6:20. We cuddle in bed till 6:40 when I shower. So technically DS has free rein during my 5 minute shower but big sis (14) is also home to keep an eye on him.
With baby 2 on the way I'm going to have to give up my extra time in bed I think and start getting ready while DH is still home. Blech, I'm not a morning person.

That would annoy me. I have to leave for work by 6:45 am, and my husband doesn't leave till 8am. I wakeup at 5:35-45, and he wakes up with the kids which tends to be 6am (it's rare that both of them sleep past that and DH gets up when the first kid gets up).

DH is 100% on morning duty while I get ready. He gets the girls up, does morning potty for older LO and changes younger LOs diaper, he makes them breakfast, etc. SOMETIMES I have time leftover where I am ready but have a few minutes and then I pitch in--we make all beds in the morning and do a quick sweep clean up so we do that together right before I leave.

Today, I am at a teacher training instead of at my school and it didn't start till 8:30 am so I got to stay home until 7:30 am. To today we both got up with the girls and both took turns getting dressed and watching kids.

I'm like your husband, so I wouldn't bug me. And when someone is watching a kid so I can get ready without interruption, it's a treat!

I think the only thing that would bother me is her being alone downstairs for 5-10 minutes. Not that we don't leave our 4 year old alone in a different room in the house, but my thought is that he's ignoring her in your bed while he's on his phone, and he's choosing FB time over a little morning time with her. That's the part that would bug me.

That wouldn't bother me

I think if it impacted me where i had to take DD to daycare, i would be beyond irritated that he wasn't getting her ready. But i see it as his problem for being late.

MY DS is 2 years old, and is able to come find us if needed. DH had to get ready and he gave him the option of coming upstairs or playing downstairs and DS chose to play downstairs by himself (DD and i had already left). Maybe i'm just a delinquent parent?
