I read through a bunch of other posts on this....my question is when to step up the intervention? Like, when should I get concerned?
LO hasn't pooped at all in 4.5 days (today is day 5). Nothing. Before this she was having one or two small, clay-consistency poops. After several weeks of "unsatisfactory" poops we gave her a tiny bit of a glycerine suppository on Saturday. She had a larger poop, and it was softer, but nothing to write home about (ha!).
After that I got worried about giving her prune juice/ cider (the doc recommended the cider) so much, and switched to just offering water.
Today I've been giving her prune juice and cider using a medicine dropper (most effective way to get it in her). I give daily belly massages when I change diapers and during bath.
Would you try another suppository? She is straining today, and was very gassy yesterday (straining and then she'd fart). Today after she strains there is a tiny bit of poo on her butt, just a smear when I wipe her. She doesn't seem to be in pain when she strains- not crying or whining.
I feel like I call the doctor about my kids poop way more than a person should. My husband is ready to try another suppository, but I hate to do it if she is going to work it out on her own. Plus, if she isn't in pain, maybe this is just the way she is?
Sorry for writing so much about poop. I hate how much I think about this s$@& now (haha).
Eta: she is 7.5 months. Breastmilk and solids (although not much, because we do table foods and she can't get much in her mouth)
