this is so sad. i hope the injured continue to recover well, but i'm sure that a lot of those students/teachers will have emotional trauma to overcome as well.

I am really curious about what the investigation will reveal about how the teen shooter gained access to the school/ his victims. Sandy Hook Elementary recently reopened with some innovative ways to secure the school. I would like to see some best practices put in place when it comes to building schools and securing them. I know some security protocols are such w hassle, but school is supposed to be a safe place. It's time we adapt to the unfortunate new normal.

This just guts me. Whyyyyyyy? This makes me afraid to send my child to kindergarten next year. It should not be this way.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I just read an article that he was outside the school & the kids were on the playground. Which that's super scary too---that someone could still shoot through a fence/etc while kids are outside.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I agree re: adapting and upgrading all schools. Unfortunately, with so many states cutting/gutting their education budget I bet it won't happen widely everywhere

It's awful! I can't imagine! My heart hurts and being a teacher of 5-6yr olds I know exactly how those teachers feel, those are My babies for 7.5 hrs a day!!!
