Aw man, I am so sorry-- this didn't send me a message even though you mentioned me. I swear to goodness I jumped as soon as I saw it, though! I am thinking it's doing that because you are using that arm. Are you making sure to spread the fabric over your whole shoulder? The unfortunate side effect of that is, that while it distributes the weight better, it means that you have one slightly less useful arm. So... when you want to use the arm you can bunch it up closer to your neck (like in your picture) or just transfer him to the hip opposite the arm you want full mobilty in. I've put Ellie (50lbs) in a ring sling before, and while I wouldn't wear her for long, your son at 20lbs should be more than do-able. Personally I don't like padded shoulders; it's possible that the padding is making the problem worse... I'd be happy to try to skype with you or something of that nature so it's easier for me to see what you're doing and give feedback.
