DS is 22 months and recently transitioned to his toddler bed (converted crib). He does pretty well once he's asleep at night and naps are great, but bedtime sucks.

We've been doing the same bedtime routine since he was a baby, which includes 1-2 books and a favorite song. DS sits on DH's lap while we read, but he is soooo squirmy. Sometimes I feel like we're rushing to finish cause he just acts so crazy. Bath is every other night, and this happens either way.

He plays around a lot with throwing his lovies and getting out of bed. The only thing that works to keep him in bed lately is to take the lovies away until he stays in bed.

He wakes at 7 am, naps 1-3, the we start bedtime at 8pm. He often takes over an hour to fall asleep after that. Tonight I even tried rocking him a bit in the dark but he wasn't calmed at all.

Thoughts? Is this typical of this age? Could it be related to his language development (like the Wonder Weeks in infants)? He couldn't be trying to drop his nap already...right?
