It makes a very powerful statement, and it saddens me to see that this is reality for too many people.

that was pretty hard to watch. So sad! Definitely makes me feel guilty for eating fast food sometimes.

that was really sad. I kind of feel like I'm the guy in the video (albeit to a lesser extent. I am neither 300 lbs nor do I have any weight related health issues. But I am overweight and if I don't change that, I probably will some day). I don't blame my parents because at some point I became an adult and I"m responsible for my own actions. But at the same time I want to do better for my daughter. I see my cousins putting pop in their babies' sippy cups and it drives me freaking nuts. I think it will exceedingly hard for me when she gets to the point where she knows what I'm eating because then I will need to start not eating anything (in front of her) that I don't want her to eat. But I think it is really important that she doesn't get the start with food that I got (fast food, frozen pizza, chicken patties...)

I was all ready to be offended since I'm overweight, but I liked it. I've been changing my life for a while now and making sure my daughter eats the right things.(she even runs with me!) I cringe when people feed their kids junk.

That was sad to watch...scary
@mae, we've hit that stage with E. It makes things tricky

@Mae: I grew up with an unhealthy body image & relationship to food (eat lunch/dinner, get dessert! etc...) & have/had the same feelings you do about my LO'S start to life & the example I'm setting. Having her really helped me make some changes I never would have made otherwise.
This video really hits me hard & terrifies me. No one treats eating like an addiction but it certainly can be & we need to give ourselves & our children how to handle that.

I hate admitting this, but this is so my husband and MIL's relationship with food - this video was spot on. She feels I'm very strict about what my son eats but I am trying to instill healthy habits early on because my husband is very overweight. We've drastically changed our eating habits since my son was born, but we still have lots of improvements to make.

Wow, I need to show this to my mom, but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't like it very much. She's already talking about how she's going to give LO sweets and junk food and he's only 9 months. I've always been petite, but my husband struggled with his weight as a child and we don't want our children to go through that.

@lilteacherbee: we eat mostly whole real foods at my house....my MIL is always telling LO (11 months) "When you come to Nana ' s you can eat good food" & it makes me so angry. My DH has a real junk food addiction & even he likes the food I cook. Real food IS good food. It wouldn't be so bad if she didn't literally live an acre away.

@Mrs. Sunshine: Sounds so familiar! My mom watches LO while I work and we actually got in a hugeee argument this week about her refusing to respect my wishes when it comes to that stuff. She thinks that because he's "at her house," she gets to decide what he eats (ummm, no).

@Mae: Agreed. Yes it's bad if your parents instill bad eating habits but as an adult you can change.
My favorite quote recently goes something like this "Yes you can blame your parents for being who are but you only have yourself to blame for staying that way."
