Do you like to shop for antiques? Do you have any pieces in your home?
I love to go antique shopping. I rarely purchase anything because I have a hard time spending that amount of money. I do have an antique corner hutch that I got for a great deal. I have a lot of other pieces that are old, but I they aren't antiques.

I like some antique stuff because I find it's far better quality than anything new. I don't particularly care it it's in immaculate or original condition. We have a small antique table in our foyer that is painted white (likely a proper antique blaspheme!) but I don't care

Love antiquing! Most of the furniture in los room is refurbished antique furniture, along with some other pieces in the house. They're actually cheaper then chain stores, and better quality.
I also collect egg plates that I find in antique stores.
most of the antiques in my house are passed down from family though.

@artbee: DH's grandmother is getting rid of most of her antiques because she is downsizing. We're going to get a couple pieces. I really want the cradle that was made by my dh's great grandfather.

I have a few hand-me-downs that are just older things like a hope chest and some dressers. They're nice pieces, just not fancy.

I have a few hand me downs from family. Dressers that my grandparents bought when they were first married, ceramic roosters that were my Grandmas, and my favorite: 2 antique cast iron and wood school desks and chairs. I hope to get the desks appraised someday!

I love antiques. One of my favorite finds are a pair of Swedish balloon back chairs. The best part is they were 350:- for the pair ($53)! They're a lot older than they look!

@Crumbs: Oooooo pretty. When you said 'Balloon back chairs' my mind leapt to hot air balloons. Were they cheap knock-offs and mine. I would be trying to make them look like hot air balloon chairs

I have a few real antique pieces that I have acquired through my parents, that they acquired either via estate sales or family friends.
I like to refurb furniture, but I wouldn't consider doing it to anything of real value.
