DS just turned two months old and we are just about ready to transition him to his own room. We have several challenges to face, including his extremely strong desire to nurse to sleep.
He just went down (still in the RnP in our room) and woke up just 15 minutes later. When I tried to settle him, he just rooted and thrashed in his swaddle and was royally pissed off so I gave him to DH who didn't have any better luck. I mean, the kid was hysterically crying -- purple cry -- so we thought ok there must be something else the matter and unswaddled to check his diaper. Nope. Just wanted the boob.
Any advice? Anyone go through the same thing and live to tell about it? I'm having a hard time picturing him ever going to sleep on his own...at this rate, I'll be nursing him to sleep when he's in college. Just kidding. But only a little. Help!
I definitely don't expect him to sleep through the night and would never try to sleep train him now, I just had it in my head (put there by a few well-meaning people) that if I didn't start breaking the nursing to sleep habit, that I'd be setting us both up for issues later on when he was ready to sleep train. I think my anxiety about going back to work in January has made me doubt myself.
