Sorry you're having trouble sleeping! What about tea? Non decaffeinated of course.

I always find that writing helps. Even if I'm not stressed or feel like I have a lot on my mind, if I just sit and write a little bit about my day it helps me fall asleep. I've dealt with insomnia my whole life, and a lot of it is because I can't shut my brain off.

Thanks ladies! I don't have any tea now but I will try some when I get home @boogabea @BeachMama: that's a good suggestion I've never heard before. Perhaps ill give it a try.
I feel so tense and gritting me teeth.

I do this thing called square breathing. I randomly learned about it in health class as a kid and it's always helped me. You close your eyes and picture that with every slow, steady breath, you're pushing a lit line around in a square on a black background. So I picture it kind of like neon sign tubing, breathe in and it travels from bottom left to top left, breathe out and it travels from top left to top right and so on. Good luck - insomnia stinks!

@MrsMccarthy: it really helps your mind go blank so you can relax. Sometimes I have to make like, 20 squares but it always works for me. Hopefully it does for you
ETA I forgot you can kind of count out the breaths like breathe in 4, hold 2, breathe out 4...or whatever feels right. If you ever get panic attacks this is also a good way to calm down!

@mrsmccarthy: Has your sleep gotten any better? I'm going through the same thing right now.

I do some acupressure points for anxiety and insomnia each night. I found a random book on amazon but there are lots of YouTube tutorials on finding the points that are good for anxiety and insomnia. A lot of them are the same. I also listen to a guided meditation track on my phone while in bed. I found it on iTunes.
I still need meds, but I do think the acupressure and meditation help as well.
