I have been inspired this year to do some holiday baking! I want to make fudge but I don't like it so I have no idea what the best kind to make is. I found a butterscotch fudge but I don't know how popular that would be over the normal kind. Do you have any suggestions? What's your favorite kind of fudge? If you have a recipe to share, I would appreciate that too! Thanks

I would guess if you're trying to please the most people, I'd go with a regular chocolate fudge. I don't have a recipe but the best fudge I've ever had was a chocolate fudge with oreos in the middle!
I just saw on Rachel Ray yesterday that she had a simple fudge recipe. I'm sure it's on her site.

I haven't made this but it is really good. A co-worker's wife makes it every Christmas and this is her recipe:
Peanut Butter Fudge
2 sticks butter
½ cup peanut butter
¾ box confectioners sugar
2 tsp vanilla
½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)Melt butter with peanut butter over low heat. Stir till smooth, remove from stove.
Add sifted confectioners sugar a little at a time, then vanilla, then nuts.
Pour into a well buttered pan. Cool in the fridge. Cut into squares. -
My favs are classic chocolate and chocolate and mint!

I haven't made this, but a friend did and it was DELICIOUS. It wasn't too sweet and it was kind of a soft fudge - so yummy!
Fudge
2 tbsp butter
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp vanilla extractCombine butter, milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan. Bring to a full rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil while stirring for 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Stir in marshmallows, chocolate chips, nuts, and vanilla. Stir vigorously until marshmallows are melted. Pour into a foil-lined 8-inch square pan. Chill until firm.

Carnation sweetened condensed milk has a super easy and delicious recipe on the back of the can. I like to add nuts, marshmallows, candy cane crumbles and liqueurs to them (though not all together).

My mom makes the best fudge I've ever had, and everyone else seems to love it as well! If you google "fantasy fudge old recipe" it'll come up and it's crazy how many people dig it. Also it's super easy!
3 cups sugar
3/4 cup margarine
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 12-oz. (340 g) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 7-oz. (198 g) jar Kraft Marshmallow creme
1 cup chopped nuts
1 tablespoon vanillaCombine sugar, margarine and milk in heavy 2-1/2 quart saucepan; bring to full rolling bail, stirring constantly. Continue boiling 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate till melted. Add marshmallow creme, nuts & vanilla beat till blended. Pour into greased (lightly with butter or margarine) 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Let cool and cut into 1-inch squares.

I enjoy chocolate with any kind of nuts, or maple. I have never made fudge though, so no recipe to share! But anything with that much butter and sugar is bound to taste good no matter what you put in it

Okay! Here's my mom's fudge recipe(s)...
Original:
1c. milk
1c. butter
4c. sugar
Melt in saucepan.Add 25 large marshmallows. Cook until boiling (about 2 minutes), stirring constantly. Take off heat.
Add 2 - 6oz Hershey bars (you can use almond. My mom uses the toffee Symphony bars). Add 12oz bag of chocolate chips.
Mix 3t. melted butter with 6T. cocoa powder.. Add to fudge mixture. Pour into greased baking pan. Enjoy!Peanut butter fudge:
Do not use cocoa powder. Replace Hershey bars & chocolate chips with 3 - 12oz bags white chocolate chips. Add 1c. peanut butter and 1/2c melted butter. Mix together and add to marshmallow mixture.Peppermint fudge:
Do not use cocoa powder. Replace Hershey bars and chocolate chips with 2 -12oz bags of white chocolate chips. Add one bags Hershey Peppermint Hugs. 1/2c. melted butter. Add to marshmallow mixture.Hope this makes sense. I was trying to write while she explained it to me.

I'll have to find the recipe again, but I made a mint chocolate fudge last year. It was delicious and a huge hit!

Marshmallow fudge is always a hit. If you want to level up and try some candy making, google for Alton Brown's fudge recipe. It's a fun way to learn some basic technique.

@tororojo: Sadly, I no longer eat fudge (not very Paleo), but I used to love me some fudge and this was the only kind I would make. My friends and family LOVED it, too. Plus there was always leftover marshmallow fluff for pb & marshmallow sandwiches!

@Smurfette: I just tried this with sunbutter. It tasted great out of the bowl so I am hoping that it sets up. If it does I am so excited to have an allergy free dessert!
