Hellobee Boards

This is my fourth year gardening, and I sucked big time at first (but to be fair, I was pregnant). I blog about it some on my blog (you can google Honey and Huckleberries). What does it look like now? Any trees? lawn? lots of shade, lots of sun?

Hmm, my front garden (the left photo, the right is veggies down the side of my house) is a lot of shade and I did some hostas, a lady's mantle, a pretty fern, a heuchera and some mint (in a sunken bucket, mint wants to take over the world). I mulched around them and made some cement balls by filling old lighting fixtures with cement and breaking the glass off (I found a tutorial on pinterest I think).

It was really pretty and the plants are pretty hardy. You know, water them. I only planted perennials because then you don't have to replant the next year, they just come back up and look pretty again.

@alie: We're in the same zone! Do you like bushes? Peonies and hydrangeas are really pretty, but they can get big. If you're into wild flowers, lupins, echinacea, delphiniums.

Vines: clematis, honeysuckle.

Shady flowers: bleeding hearts are really nice, but be sure to plant a hosta to cover it up once it dies down. They're really hardy though, so they'll just grow back even bigger the next year.
